I read Slocum years ago. Sailing alone around the world sounded to me like some awful nightmare. Give me a canal boat, canals and a nice river in the summer that'll do ta.

but if your just going to sit facing the camera talking in a monotone then it's boring. I read Slocum, something we all think about, but few of us realise the dream. If you are into epic journeys ...... have you read "The Epic Voyage of the Seven Little Sisters" ? an epic voyage by an epic character

He did it for adventure, like mountaineers. I tried singlehanded sailing myself, but I really did not progress. I'm a G&T sailor to some extent. Great to sail hard for a day or a night, then get in to my bunk, get refreshed and plan the next day. I am only coming to canal boats cos of my knees! I would never have considered it when I was fit and able. Even so, I expect to enjoy a few adventures, even if I have no use for my ice axe and crampons any more .................... I've sold the yacht, sold the skis, still have my saddle, and some "essential" kit that has sentimental value ............. I've decided to have a day at Port Moak, to do a bit of gliding [ my Silver C remains "unfinished"] , but I am struggling for new challenges.

You guessed wrong, I just look at boats for sale on eBay for some strange reason. The Gardner is good, the only thing that lets it down in my opinion is the yammer frame generator. Iroko on oak frames and not that old, so it doesn't get better than this for wooden boats.

That is a nice little boat. I think you would know about it, if you sailed that across the Atlantic.

It does seem to be a bit small for the purpose.
