HMS Rodney was without doubt a very poorly battleship when she saw action against Bismarck, but this ought not to be held against either her or the German ship, for a battleship in tired condition was very clearly still a dangerous foe, like a grizzly bear with arthritis if it gets too close.

The battleship names on my boats have been Tiger, Inflexible and Indomitable.
These names seem to be slightly more interesting than "Rodney".

Before 'Only Fools' the name was synonymous with the Battle of Cape St Vincent.

It's true that the yellow reliant van has done a disservice to the name Rodney.
However I still prefer battleship names to have a bit of a hard edge to them if possible. And preferably not to have been sunk by the enemy.
Not that HMS Rodney was sunk to be fair it seems to have been scrapped.
I always have a little giggle to myself about boat names and what would happen if you did a rude one.
Do they have meetings about it or simply a list of not allowed words?
The rudest one I have seen is "Up Yaws". Very nasty on a generic gin palace I think the name "Undistinguishable" would be more appropriate for that one!

Obviously just the thing for our resident of Finland. It won't go under canal bridges though.

looks a decent shape and from what little you can see, decent condition hull. Quite possibly only built in 6mm and due to the way surveyors go nowadays it would have to be without any corrosion. ...... and even then would have thought it expensive for a project boat.

I wonder what thickness it is .... They say it's about a tonne so it can't be any thicker than 6mm probably 5mm if you allow for minimal framing.
Unless you have a particular job or conversion lined up for it, I would have thought it expensive even if the plating is perfect. (scrap prices being what they are)
