Hereβs a boat you might like John. Perhaps a bit bigger than you thought about , but if I was looking for a sea going motorboat then Iβd be looking at this. It even has a Gardner, if a deal could be made on the price It could be a bargain. m.apolloduck.com/boat/house-boats-conversion/620806

8LB I presume is an 8L3B.
A very pleasant unit indeed.
8 X 3 = 24 litres of Gardner. Definitely a good plan.
Looking at it I wonder if it is actually a Gardner 8LXB which is a considerably less attractive unit.
Maybe I need to look at the pictures !
8LXB is only 14 litres displacement. Still has the power but not the grace.

A nice boat though with proven sea handling capabilities.

Yes it's very nice and it is a Gardner 8L3B in it. The one with the seperate heads. Lovely.

A nice boat though with proven sea handling capabilities. It is indeed a nice boat ..... lovely size, lovely engine, plenty of room, downsides very deep draft could restrict her range and if she has been out of code for 5 years it could be many years since she was last slipped ....... If I was looking for a change of liveaboard then I would be very interested.
It's not what I'm after though ..... I am looking for an extended holliday boat with the ability to dry out without damage (rolling chocks of some sort and skeg) about 30 to 40 foot range
I have too much of my life invested in Sabina H to be looking for a replacement home.

Yes I understand John, itβs a really nice boat though. It definitely needs updating a bit.

Hmm Twin 2kw brushless outrunners on props and a couple of ebike batteries in this? 4m long and GRP so it's got a good chance of moving swiftly. I had a twat in a slipper launch asking if I wanted to race but my yellow thing is too slow. Perhaps a fast one for next year would be appropriate. I think this might bring a little smile to the face.

I was only thinking the other day of picking up a small boat of some kind, something I can lift out and pop on the car roof, with an electric motor to power...
Do you need to licence electric boats with CRT?
Be fun to drop in at Marston junction and head to the pub for an afternoon..

My floating electric beer drinking platform has a full Thames registration (electric). If I got this other yellow thing it would also be registered.
Use in the cut is more intriguing but yes I think it should be licensed.
Intriguing because there will never be any enforcement.
If it's with a boat it may be included in the license (Gold license allows a tender) but if it's off the top of the car then it should technically have a license and, if powered, also insurance.
Technically...

Looks like a Salters GRP skiff. Very nice.
I haven't handled one of those but I think you might be surprised how heavy it is.
I've got a heavy grp dinghy which is just 8ft6 long and I can barely get it out of the water by myself.
Of course if you are Arnie...

That is a nice-looking launch. But the soap-dodger is right, you won't pick it up that easily. Also, the licence fee goes up a lot if you declare it to be powered, I think. But it will row nicely.
ETA it wouldn't be at all difficult to add a rudder for a cox. No sniggering.

They used to do electric oars. So you could claim unpowered yet silently sneak along.
I'm sure someone will do this product again. Nobody will notice that the oar is sticking out the back and not being manipulated. It's an oar = unpowered boat innit
