I just discovered accidentally that a really good way to do it is using a baking tray on the induction hob. Ran out of gas and can't be arsed to gaul the bottle out (13) so have switched to the Induction hob as there has been adequate solar. Obviously the pasta is cooked on the fire. These are the only frying pans I have here and I don't really want to ruin them. The Hen and Pig are made of China. The pans are made in Taiwan. £1 each in the cherry tea shop. So yeah, baking sheet on induction hob very hot fries bacon fast and clean. Loads of smoke but this is not an issue. Any other Good Ideas about cooking the bacon? I think these pans are self defence frying pans. You have them always hanging by thr door as decoration then if someone gets in you grab and whack. Kindling store and axe by the steps are better but not everyone has a use for an axe or the privilege of living on a boat.

You could have fried them on the fire. I bang them in the air frier.

Maybe thebfg was referring to a hair drier but got the words wrong for some reason.

What sort of wattage?
Could be interesting if less than 1kw. If nore that is a bit heavy.

So it is around 1kw and ten minutes to cook bacon. Not terrible that would be around 150Watt Ahs so a little more than 10 Amp Ahs.I suppose that isn't too shocking. Always a shed load of surplus solar these days so worth considering perhaps.
I quite like gas but this could be just force of habit.

I’m having to change that habit for using an electric kettle. I’m not pursuaded by air fryers yet,so many gadgets for kitchens come and go. But I am trying to decide on a combination grill, oven and two hobs. I’ve just got to rearrange the space a little bit.

Induction hobs are wicked.
I will be keeping the gas on both boats but electric can work even off grid if you have decent batteries and plenty of solar. Not sure how you would get on in winter. Cooking on the fire is an option but some people need more luxury.

I would be nervous about cleaning requirements for the air fryer.
To be fair I am nervous about cleaning requirements for more or less everything !

Ours is OK, works well in a house.
Ita connected to WiFi whoxh makes it super easy, I select whatever we're cooking on the app and it automatically sets all the control's and cooks it. The keep warm mode is very good.
