Ive heard of quite a few facilities that have been closed, think it’s an underhand way of hindering livaboard boaters.

It is one theory yes.
I wonder whether given the open nature of some of the CRT sites they may have been getting a lot of input from non boaters.
If that was happening it could put costs up quite a lot.
Did you also ask why?

If that was happening it could put costs up quite a lot. Did you also ask why? I wouldn’t expect a truthful answer to why? So just a list of which ones have gone would be handy. Even if it’s just to let boaters know, as on the maps they are all still shown.

The one in Loughborough Basin closed because homeless people were sleeping in it. Not hard to get hold of a BW key on ebay I suppose. Now as well as needing a key, you need to enter an access code on a keypad which you get by phoning CRT, although only during office hours of course. Difficult to know how a situation like that can be dealt with really and a sad reflection on society that people feel obliged to sleep in a toilet emptying station.

Difficult to know how a situation like that can be dealt with really and a sad reflection on society that people feel obliged to sleep in a toilet emptying station. This seems to be a common occurrence, apparently it’s the reason the facilities at meadow lane in Nottingham have been removed. Crt should be thinking of fitting as you say combination locks or maybe magnetic card locks. These could just last for a year, you get a new one when you pay for your licence. This would stop none licence payers using facilities as well as homeless people. They could also put the locks on the bin compounds. The removal of these facilities is just going to lead to conflict with the local communities near the closed facilities.
