Have to say the Wharf owner's actions in blocking the use of the winding hole, ONLY affects other boaters and does not affect C&RT in any way. Whether he's within his legal rights or not (and I am told he is) explaining his stance would be a good thing. At present it simply looks a little 'dog in the manger'. Previous owners have moored a boat to their land and also left the winding hole free to use. If there is a dispute re maintenance as brummieboy suggests, perhaps airing the issue would garner support ? Rog Don't mention Garner, it's a trigger word for some.

Might the owner be thinking of digging out a layby for several moorings and wants to establish an outer boundary line?

Very sad to see the loss of such a tradition after more than two centuries.
They obviously have their reasons.
