Below is an extract from a BBC News report regarding the government's idea for the NHS to save money by spending money on a new unnecessary drug. Wouldn't it be better to stop spending money on unnecessary drugs, and rather encourage and promote a society who are no longer GP and drug dependent ? When my knee was at its most painful Jane bought me from the chemist, some Voltarol cream which cost Β£14 a tube ... it didn't help as it happens. A friend is currently using the same stuff on his painful feet, and I commented how expensive it is. Turns out he gets it 'for free' from a neighbour who is prescribed it every month but doesn't use it ! How much is wasted on unnecessary medications, prescribed for no real reason other than to placate the individual ? Rog

Could be useful for some fat boat owners. A UPF, sugar and fat tax would be better, get to the root of the problem. Forcefeed fresh food on the feckless.

I've finally got my NHS spine clinic appointment tomorrow.
Interesting to see what they say. The quack briefly mentioned stenosis which turns out to be a bit displeasing over time.
I can't get into either of the boats in a bath chair so some rethinking may be needed !
Not interested in meds at all.

I am not interested in meds either. But following the acquisition of empirical data from an experiment conducted on myself, I now accept that the meds are necessary. This sucks but it's preferable to the alternative.

Meds are essential for many ... life savers no arguments.
But how many are prescribed meds purely because they reach a certain age ... no other reason ?
How many have cupboards full of unused and unwanted meds ?
We've come a long way from my parents generation that tried everything possible to avoid doctors visits to where we are now ... hooked on GP's ... 'there must be a pill for it'.
Of course a balance has to be struck ... but prescribing meds to seek to reduce reliance on meds is mental !

Top post ... the magic needle that will make you lose weight and save a fortune on NHS treatment ! Rog I think you are being a little un-empathetic, which is unusual for you. Or to put it another way, what have you done with Rog? Some peopleβs lives are ruined by obesity despite them being desperate and making best efforts to lose weight. And of course their excessive weight does cost the taxpayer a lot of money in terms of NHS needs, lost ability to be productive etc. It is for these sort of people that the jab is good. It is not for you average person just so they can go to Burger King every day for a double whopper with cheese and fries.

Maybe we should try the DPRK approach to weight management. Not too many fat people in them there parts...there is one notable porker though.
