under discrimination law. If they said we want English people only there would be uproar.

Multi-lingual abilities have been a marketable skill for some time.

Really.
Speaking a specific required language is a skill being sought.
Like advertising for a qualified electrician, or teacher.
Discrimination law relates to UNFAIR discrimination.

What for unskilled labour? Anyway I asked a question rather than made a statement.

They may as well say polish people only. As I say if they said English people only or Yorkshire people only or any other ethnic group/nationality then there would be issues. If they said polish speakers preferred then discriminated in the interview thatβs different. I was once told I wasnβt suitable for a job because I couldnβt speak Urdu. In other words your the wrong nationality, but they did this verbally in the interview not in the advert.

If that's your opinion, I see no point trying to convince you otherwise π

If that's your opinion, I see no point trying to convince you otherwise π Rog It kind of says it in the advert, Iβm pretty sure your not allowed to discriminate in Job adverts like that.

Interestingly itβs very close but the wording is just the right side of discrimination.https://www.reed.co.uk/recruiter-advice/tips-for-avoiding-discrimination-in-job-ads/#:~:text=A%20preference%20to%20hire%20someone,avoided%20in%20any%20job%20advert.

Did you read the advert ?
This line was quite informative I thought.
"Due to a company branch being located in Poland, ability to speak communicative Polish is fundamental."

Although to be fair, how often do the workers on the ground have to communicate with the Polish branch? Not a lot, I would imagine.

Rog Did you read my post above? Even though technically it might be okay. As I say it may as well say polish people only but that would be illegal itβs what they are implying. As far as I know they donβt teach polish in English schools. Although itβs along time since I was at school.
