Your position may have greater credibility if you got the name of the pub right. Partners I'm not good on ... names of pubs I'm a master . Black Swan at Fradley ... hence colloquially the Mucky Duck. You're welcome 😁 Rog You have never drunk beer at the Black Swan at Fradley. Just the Swan these days ... Mucky Duck doesn't really make sense. Rog

Hope you had a good time in Leicester, if you went, today dogless. Enjoy the Ashby - miles away from this madness x This is exactly why I choose to live (quietly and fairly anonymously) on my boat ....

There was a boatyard there (Fradley) called Swan Line. The geyser who owned it did one of my boat safety inspections a number of yars ago. Jeff Greatwood. He knew his shit when it came to boats and was a gentleman. Don't know if he is still about this would have been early 00s.

When we were traveling about on the boats my mother and I were entirely aloof and very rarely engaged with others unless absolutely necessary.

I was told the first time I went (2000 ish) it was called the Mucky Duck because originally the pub was named the Black Swan ... never questioned it because there was a pub in Sheffield on Snig Hill with exactly the same back story. However no record on't Web that it was ever called anything other than the Swan. Rog

It's still a nightmare for a single hander though with nowhere to go!

Rog There is an old boat floating about around the Midlands called The Mucky Duck of Fradley so it would suggest there's some history before the advent of the interweb ..........

I suppose back in the one could say 'we are going for a pint at the swan at Fradley'. Now you would have to say 'we are going for a pint at the the swan at Fradley' for some reason a superfluous 'the' has crept in.
