I suppose back in the one could say 'we are going for a pint at the swan at Fradley'. Now you would have to say 'we are going for a pint at the the swan at Fradley' for some reason a superfluous 'the' has crept in. I'm from Yorkshire. I'd be going for a pint to't Swan Rog

However no record on't Web that it was ever called anything other than the Swan. Rog Apart from this Its not called 'The Swan' Swan on the wall but it looks like the swan on the hanging sign.

I would have to call it 'the The Swan' for a number of rather obvious reasons.

At least there's two water points for you to 'hop' between metanoia 😉 Page 5 already 👍 Leicester tomorrow, thanks Rog I'm in a right state, now, dogless - one of "mine" at Great Haywood is broken again/still.... Never mind - I'll just have to check out the colour of that Swan in the next couple of days. Will let you know what it is identifying as this week Enjoy Leicester and the peace of the Ashby ....

It's obviously THE Swan ... you can't go to just ANY Swan and expect to buy beer ... broken arm territory ... ask Jim 😁 Rog

Anyway I’m not entirely sure that Rog has got the link between mucky duck and swan yet, so I’ll spell it out… Danny Kaye song “Ugly duckling” whose feathers all stubby and brown… a mucky duck. In fact turned out to be a swan. Dadaa!

Swan on the wall but it looks like the swan on the hanging sign. Well spotted. A white swan. Yes the swan is white but look at the writing at the bottom of the hanging sign, “the swan” I think.

I know not to mix beer and swans because the last time I did this with the angry swan at Limehouse he hit me so hard on my elbow I had a bruise for a week.
Maintain eye contact. I didn't. The Berkshire swans are much more friendly. Much like the humans actually !

Rog The Danny Kaye song was played a lot outside of the musical. Probably before your time. But of course the origin was the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.
