It can occasionally be simply a matter of timing.
In our travels this year we haven't encountered a blocked elsan or an overflowing rubbish point, but we did have the issue of no water at Great Haywood.
Arrived at Napton to find a contractor cleaning the elsan ... washed down the walls and all surfaces and was very thorough and did a great job. My previous visit to that elsan had revealed the holding tank was full, and yet folks had continued to empty into the hopper until it was actually overflowing ... eugh !
Similarly the Banbury town services, which have spent many weeks out of action this year, were fully working and very clean.
Of course it should be remembered, it's not the actions of C&RT that blocks the elsans and spreads rubbish about, and we can all leave the places tidier than we sometimes find them. How many times have you seen old oil, batteries, and debris from fitting out at bin sites ... boaters refuse clearly.
It is frustrating when the actions of boaters feeds into C&RT's obvious desire to simplify their responsibilities and costs.
But all too often we don't help the cause.

Rog Simplify? So just for clarity rog what is a boater supposed to do with their rubbish if they arenโt as lucky as you and arrive at the bins when they are overflowing?

The elsans and rubbish points are not as well maintained as they should be. Rolling up to a clean facility will more often than not demand and receive respect. Rolling up to a filthy rat ridden one will encourage abuse.

Whatever you wish to do krisI was pointing out that any bin point will be full at some times, just as at some times it will be empty ... it can sometimes be a matter of timing that taints our view. If you happen on full bin times repeatedly, you'll see a problem ... if you happen on empty you won't. If skips are full I take my rubbish back to the boat to split into carrier bags and deposit in street bins. If I can tidy up the bin area and make space, I do ... if the elsan needs a clean, I do. I fear, like you C&RT are looking to off-load elsans and bin areas to simplify and reduce costs. I was simply trying to point out that boater's actions can encourage them. Rog

I think the public health issues are important and crt are being negligent in their duty of care. I wonder if the environmental health services will be interested.

Exactly. Some of us are not as naive as the odd little cherub. Keep digging As I've stated before, if you want a face to face in order to sort our issues, I'm up for that. If you don't think you have the bottle, fuck off. Sad twat.

Rog I would suggest that those boaters actions are desposing of their rubbish. The fact is rog that if emptying of bins goes from once a week to once a fortnight combined with removal of some bins. Then overflowing bins is not going to be an occasional event. It becomes an environmental health issue.
