Who’s complaining about increased financial contributions? Crt hemmorage money. I see there’s a lot of I’m alright jacks though. They have done a good job of dividing boaters, it makes me sad though. Because it doesn’t bode well for the future of the waterways. But then I suppose for a percentage of boaters they are not really bothered, because they are elderly and they’ve got their use out of the system.

I will always remember the one time when I bothered to attend a CRT forum meeting. It was quite interesting. At one stage we were split into tables. I ended up with several old codgers. There were things we had to choose to talk about. The two I recall were 1. veg management and 2. future of the waterways/making waterways attractive to younger people. All of the old codgers wanted to talk about the mowing. I suggested we talk about the future of the waterways. The scowls and looks I got ! We talked about the mowing. Interesting to see what happens. I'm off CRT water from April probably only returning occasionally as a visitor. Not because of any of the price rises just because it is time to go for natural reasons. Not a rat leaving a sinking shit!

But lots of young people have bought boats and are living the dream in London and the South West, yet you amongst others Admiral complain about them. Rog

It’s squatters that Andrew dislikes the most, especially squatters in boats.

It’s the squitters that annoy me. I am annoyed by people with no intention of staying on Boats for their whole life doing things which shine a spotlight on off grid Boat living. Why not just enjoy it and shut up about the insecurity?

Why not just enjoy it and shut up about the insecurity? We’ve had this conversation before. It’s just that in the 30 years you’ve lived in a boat it’s changed. Not just life on the waterways either. So just be grateful that you saw the good old days. I blame the internet.

Yes I think the internet has got a lot to answer for. And mobile phones.
A lot of people would probably be a little afraid of living on a Boat with no communication other than a CB radio.
It must have been chilled back in the day but yes everything has changed.
Not much can be done and getting away from inner London will be good because it really is too depressing.

Moving your boat out of London has got to be a good move. As I’ve got older I find I can’t really deal with cities anymore and am only happy to be passing through them. I’ve lived in a few big ones in my life including London and Delhi. I think they are disgusting places now adays especially London. It is a big machine for turning human energy into profit for the people at the top. I find the whole city of London thing very interesting. It’s like a country within a country a bit like the Vatican. Got their own police forces etc. I was in the Vatican once, I was arrested for doing nothing. They found my presence there threatening in some way? I was told that if they saw me in the Vatican again they would lock me up.

MI6 told them about you ripping hearts out and eating them. Its the kind of info we share across friendly borders. This was years ago before I had learnt the technique. If I had been doing something dodgy then I could have understoood it, I think they just don’t like heathens wandering about.
