Always remember that today will be someone's good old days in time. Rog It’s a good life here in England. It’s just that some people pick up on the negatives and forget to look for the positives.

There’s a song about that I believe. I suppose when the negative effects your life directly then your going to comment on it. When it just effects you indirectly then it’s easy to ignore.

Yet this thread seems to mainly a moan about the loss of shower facilities that nobody here seems to have ever used. I know the waterways aren’t perfect, but they still offer amazing value for money. We cruise every year from March to October. Have had very few problems over the years. £100 a month allows us use of all these amazing waters.. Bargain!

We cruise every year from March to October. Have had very few problems over the years. £100 a month allows us use of all these amazing waters.. Bargain! The only people who have mentioned showers are the people who don’t use them. Personally I think the removal of bins and elsans pose a bigger problem. I think the removal of these facilities will directly lead to more rubbish and pollution in the waterways environment. It seems a strange policy for an organisation that advertises its self as environmentally conscious. In fact invites the general public to come and enjoy nature by the waterways. Whilst introducing policies that will directly degrade the natural environment they are supposed to be looking after. I think it’s worth mentioning that along with removal of bins, they are also emptying the remaining ones less frequently. I’ve lived with out my own shower for most of my life. ( traveling and living off grid.) So it really isn’t a big issue for me to carry on having strip washes. So In some ways I’m alright jack, but I’m still concerned for the general waterways environment.

I used the showers, if they are clean. Not that fussed though, I bet I'm not the only one brought up in a house with only the kitchen sink and an outdoor bog. ....but we were happy!

Yes but that house was huge everything was fucked and it was partly responsible for a very unpleasant family breakup with a lot of arguing and unpleasantness.
Not something I would want for my own kids.

He does seem to suffer from diogenesian tendencies. Perhaps a suitable barrel will float by, he'll swap like a hermit crab into his new tiny abode. David Attenborough could do the commentary.
