It does seem strange that I can claim for my boat licence and my non-residential mooring, but the feckers left me to freeze to death.

Although I wouldn't mind a free £600, my concern would be that if I pushed for my boat to be considered as a household then Rugby District Council would then come sniffing around looking to get Council Tax from my household, and as a Band A property currently pays £1,200 a year then I might be shooting myself in the foot.

As long as your "landlord" decrees that your boat can be shuffled between all available moorings, even though this may never happen, then CT can't be charged. That's what happens at shire cruisers in sowerby bridge where my mate lives.

At least they would have to provide you with a bin and collect the contents.

This is why I didn’t apply for it. But just fill the petition in. Because if it comes through,I get the feeling it will be paid through crt like the payments to cc’ers where. It seems odd that some people got paid it twice whilst lots of people didn’t get it at all.

I'm hoping to get 500 of these as a cash legacy at some stage.
500 x £600 doesn't sound much.
I'm going to have to create a mountain of paperwork in support of my position for the court to wade through if a disposal hearing is listed.
If not then... xcrkll!

I don't see how CRT could work out if someone lives on their boat or is a leisure boater if they are not a CCer?

Anyway it shouldn’t matter, people got the money for second homes as well as their main residence. So even if you had a house and stayed on the boat part time you should be entitled to it.

Yes I reckon the CRT know a lot more than people think.
We had a training session about all this at the south Oxon site near Appleford quite recently. It was just standard CPD but quite eye opening in a number of different ways. Not as fun as the hazardous situation on-site-multiple-individual conflict resolution training but still interesting.

At least they would have to provide you with a bin and collect the contents. A BIN? The current trend is for 4 or 5 bins in most councils, and you would have to take each one to the road edge on the appointed day, and only the appointed day and ensure it is not left over that day, on penalty of a fine. So where would you keep 5 bins?

I don't see how CRT could work out if someone lives on their boat or is a leisure boater if they are not a CCer? Crt know if you live on your boat or not. The only way I could see that they would know this is if the data checker had to input information about whether the vessel appeared to be lived on during his/her periodic round. If this does happen, I'm never aboard the boat when the data checker passes by so can't really see how they would know this.

They don't need to know if you are present on the Boat but can quickly make a relatively good assessment as to whether it is likely to be a residence.
Obviously not fool proof but there are clues.

How would they do that? There are boats on my mooring which are lived on and boats on my mooring which are not lived on. I can't see how anyone would be able to tell from a cursory glance from the opposite bank of the canal which case applies to any given boat. Obviously they could start patrolling at different times of the day including the evening but they don't appear to do that, neither can I see why they would.
