Oh deary me. There is no tax to pay only because of the existence of a government tax avoidance scheme. I suggest you read the definition of tax avoidance by HMRC before you make too much more of a fool of yourself.
Tax avoidance involves bending the rules of the tax system to try to gain a tax advantage that Parliament never intended.

Stating that an ISA is a government devised and implemented tax avoidance scheme is a fact. Stating that you're a tax avoider for buying a pint of milk is indeed silly. As well as being factually incorrect. My post was intended as silly. Much that you post is silly, yet you don’t realise it. Probably because you think you know everything about anything. You should maybe try listening to others sometime. You may learn something.

That's one interpretation. A scheme that allows no tax to be paid when it would normally be due is a scheme of tax avoidance. It may not have been what Ms. Reeves had in mind when she spoke of 'cracking down on tax avoidance' but none the less, it remains a tax avoidance scheme.

Your logic would mean everyone who takes advantage of their personal tax threshold is a tax avoider......

There should be no negativity. Government allows certain things or certain amounts to not count as taxable income. Or, to be allowed as costs against income when calculating income to be taxed. All of these things lead to tax avoidance. Tax avoidance is legitimate and legal according to governments of all colours. Tax evasion is what's illegal. This can result from pushing the boundaries of legal tax avoidance into illegal evasion or, out and out fraud. Tax evasion, that's what needs to be tackled.

Go back and read the definition HMRC give, I think most people agree with that. You are perfectly entitled to create your own definition but most people will disagree with you.
I'll leave it there though, I've made my points.

I bet ricco and Jim have both been creative with what they claim on their tax returns and Ricco do you declare what you earn being the local handyman? As for donkey he’s too thick to fiddle his tax returns.

As for donkey he’s too thick to fiddle his tax returns. I declare everything I earn. There's nothing creative about my tax returns. I plan my investments not only to maximise my returns, but also to legally minimise my tax liabilities. Jim describes this as failure.

I wouldn’t admit to it either on a public forum.

There's nothing to hide. Managing your affairs in a tax efficient manner is perfectly legal.
