Arrived at the boat with Jeffβs parents. Definitely a good idea to travel on a Sunday, no traffic jams at all. Still it is a 7 hr drive (plus stops) so Iβm fairly knackered (although Jeff probably did more than 1/2 the driving). Jeffβs mum bought some booze so we are currently sampling Aldi Cava which is very good especially considering it was around Β£6. Stuffed it into the cool box in the boot so it was nicely chilled on arrival. Only slight problem is that we left a lovely dry sunny Aberdeen this morning, to arrive in a rainy Tamworth. Nice rainbow, but I would prefer sunshine.

Happy boating TelemachusAnd even happier drinking of the cava. Is it the one in the gold bottle ? That's lovely and was recommended to us by quaysider some years ago. Not seen it in Aldi for a while so hope it's back. Rog

I do actually like After Eights, they also do some mint sticks which look like pretzel sticks, but are of course choccy & minty instead of salty.Over 40 years ago,a lovely guy (who's no longer with us)-gave me a fancy After Eights holder for my birthday.Just to confirm-I no longer own this.π

Do they sell unlawfully seized Section 8'd boats merely to recover outstanding debt or (rare occasion I would guess) if worth more do they return any excess cash to the previous owner ? Anyone know ? Rog If by "they" you mean the C&RT, the answer is that neither C&RT, nor any agent of C&RT has any legal/lawful right to sell anyone's boat, goods or belongings as a means of debt recovery.
Only a Court has the powers and authority to order the sale of someone's boat, goods or belongings as a means of debt recovery. These simple undeniable facts have been related and explained repeatedly in posts on this forum, . . but you, and your equally bigoted and stupid internet friends, persist in your blinkered denials of the inescapable truth :- 'Seizing' goods, an item, property, or belongings does not equate with acquiring 'good title', . . unless the seizure of the goods (etc.) has been properly and specifically authorized or ordered by way of an enactment, a Writ, or a Warrant.
This, apparently, incomprehensible (for all C&RT's gullible, unthinking supporters) and (for C&RT and CBS) inconvenient but undeniable fact, is what makes every single one of C&RT's Section 8 boat "removals" unlawful, . . because the 'seizure' of the vessel in question is executed with the predetermined intention of either destroying the vessel, or selling it on to a third party, . . entirely absent any authority or documentation originating from any enactment or Court ordered 'seizure power' to do so lawfully/legally.
___________________________________________________ Paragraph 2) of Schedule 12) to the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 states :- Enforcement agents
2(1) In this Schedule βenforcement agentβ means an individual authorised by section 63(2) to act as an enforcement agent. 2(2) Only an enforcement agent may take control of goods and sell them under an enforcement power. _____________________________________________ The words - "enforcement power" (Para, 2(2) of Schedule 12 to TCE Act 2007) are of special significance with regard to C&RT's unlawful seizures of Section 8'd boats from their rightful owners.
Neither C&RT, nor Commercial Boat Services bogus Bailiffs, have ever acted or are ever, or ever have been authorized to act under any such "enforcement power", although it is a matter of record that both organizations routinely and wilfully mislead and lie to the Police to lead them to believe that such powers are being lawfully exercised when 'removing' boats subject to Section 8 Notices from C&RT managed or controlled inland waterways.
It follows therefore that C&RT's Section 8 boat 'seizures', and the 'evictions' of the owners that usually accompany the 'seizing' of the vessel are all, without exception, wholly unlawful/illegal.

Been driving off and on all day, so no drink involved, but now home and relaxing with a whisky π₯
Been a lovely happy day.
March 2023 we were gathered for my sisters funeral, so it was lovely to be gathered together from around the country for a happy occasion.
One more 'obstacle' to overcome tomorrow, and then we'll be back on board by Friday.
You never know what life will throw at you ... all we can do is embrace it and enjoy the moment.
Slainte mhath !

There is that.
It looks like things might start happening with the Β£300k cash legacy as it appears that a half day hearing may have been listed.
Obviously it is all rather irrelevant but I wonder about the overall status.
I'm a bit worried about it in a way.

Your inheritance arriving and the return of someone's boat have taken on mythical proportions here.
Are they really going to happen, or just the symptoms of a fevered imagination.
Who knows ... chicken or egg situation.

Its all quite funny in a way.
I feel like I am in a time machine. When the parents got divorced back in '85/6 it was a complicated affair with lots of solicitor involvement and my mother was stubborn and stuck to her guns and got half the money. It wasn't the old man doing it it was his new wife. She wanted the money. Nothing complicated about it and she had effective solicitors.
And now, almost 40 yars later, the same story is repeating itself. The same person (step mother) is obstructing the progress.
Some of these old school landed types have massive chips on their shoulders about money. They don't give a shit about anything else.
Obviously my mother was from a high born family but they lost a lot of money. The class remained.
All this upper class shit is a bit odd really. I'm glad I'm not in the 'set' as they seem to have a lot of bad shit going on.
I'd like the Β£300k but if I don't get it will I die? Quite probably but I am not that bothered.
Its an interesting study. I am very happy that I reproduced with a peasant woman.
I wouldn't wish all this money shit on my children.
