If you say so.
I still find it amusing.

Hypocrites amuse me. Most especially, the really obvious hypocrites who duck and dive in desperate attempts to defy their obvious hypocrisy. Like, to paraphrase, 'yes, what I'm doing might not be great but it's OK for me to do it because I'm a kind person'. Also, 'I personally missed out on what many others have therefore doing something that's generally bad is OK, as it's only allowing me to catch up with others'.

If you say so. I still find it amusing. Rog So do I really. A bunch of silly old fools imagining that anything they do will have a positive outcome and all while eating cheese sandwiches produced in a polluting factory from milk made by cows which are fed on grain from South America that was grown on land reclaimed from the rainforest. And it's wrapped in plastic. Tcha. Bring on armagideon.

So akin to protesting breathing ... protesting against something utterly unavoidable.

The above is a fair point. If JSO succeeded in their aims it wouldn't make a scrap of difference. The developing countries would continue to develop, using ever increasing amounts of fossil fuels. Our 1-2% impact is but a rounding difference.

Despite the hypocrisy....
Do nothing and the world turns to hell on earth... Protests have always been about publicity.

Actually things are progressing nicely. North Korea ganging up with Russia, the first F16s promised to Ukraine to be operational soon AND its ok for them to fire at stuff in Russia. All we need now is one teensy-weensy tactical nuclear warhead deployment and it's game-time. Hurrah!

It's best to be pragmatic about these things.

Which things? Cheese sandwiches or tactical nuclear warheads?

Pragmatism tells us that it's likely that human activity is doing things to the climate that will bring about change. Much/ most of this is bad. The lure of economic development trumps any worries around climate change. We can see this in action. Pragmatism tells us that half arsed attempts by developed nations to reduce their emissions are pointless, against the onslaught of increased emissions by the developing world. The developed world cannot instuct the devolping world to put a lid on its growth. After all, the developed world had its growth, did it not, therefore it's in no place to instruct others not to follow the same path.
Weighing all this up, pragmatism tell us that it's utterly pointless for folk to throw orange paint on sensitive buildings. All the publicity in the world won't make a scrap of difference to the way things are being played out, as described in the previous paragraph.

I am fearful about JSB getting traction.
Or even worse JSB/AOAP!

But what's your position on the cheese sandwich consumption issue? I prefer tuna. Sustainably caught.
