Ah yes! But P2 has to drop the u/c and land the thing if P1 gets shot to smithereens by the Red Baron 😁 Enjoyed the video.... looks fun.

Glad you enjoyed your sortie Nick. I noticed in the photo that the IAS on the warning notices on the sides of the cockpit were in knots, yet the air speed indicator was calibrated in mph. Was the indicator robbed from some other kite or does health & safety get overlooked during war-time?

Aaah !!! a member of the million miles per watt club ...... I was expected to provide world wide communication at any time with a measley 60 watt CW transmitter ...... My hats off to you, I know the frustration of trying to get through to a distant station when some b$%&$£d opens up near you with a few kilowatts. Respect! No mean feat with 60W. As for 'getting through' the big boys, I always found that the inevitable designed 'chirp' usually helped

John, my Ham interest was at the opposite end of the spectrum (literally) to yours. Homebrew QRP CW, although I later got into weather sats from a software decoding angle. But of course it's far easier to just view weather pages on the net these days so I expect that side of the hobby is now defunct. Still got an attic full of kit though.

As an apprentice, I remember a very early test job being given a block of aluminium and being told to FILE it to a perfect 1 inch cube. Maybe thinking back to the result is why I found that movie clip fascinating.😂 Huh you had it easy, we had to also file a square hole to accept the block. Phil It wouldn't have needed to have been square to accept the shape of the block I ended up with Phil. 😀 What I really couldn't understand was why I was filing anything at all when I had signed up for an electronics apprenticeship 🤔

OK, so I reached my allotted three score and ten 9 days ago (thanks for the good wishes, and yes I sobered up sometime Tuesday afternoon!). Since then I've received through the post: An invitation to view retirement apartments in a town 35 and 60 miles away. An invitation to consider moving to a bungalow within a sheltered community complex. Three offers for cruises -- one of with was blatantly targeted for 'concessionary' clientele. A pamphlet for rising chairs from a well known organisation for the aged. A pamphlet detailing an assortment of mobility aids from a national company. And this morning was delivered a booklet for mobility scooters. Where do these people get their ideas from? When all I really need is a younger wife who's able to jump across the open lock gates rather than having to walk around. Still, I suppose it's keeping the postman in a job.

Our boat has both satellite and aerial fitted. Have always used the sat as I’d never found the cable from the aerial. Not been a problem as I’m used to sat tv anyway. Anyway, I’ve found the cable that runs from the aerial. Tested it and it works. Can I connect both the aerial and sat cable into a splitter type connector and then run the single cable from this to a tv? Would this work and be just a case of selecting satellite or aerial signal on the tv. Tv has built in freesat and freeview. Another thing I discovered today is that with the freeview selected if I hold my finger to the end of a cable connected to the tv aerial socket I get a picture. Does this mean I am acting as a tv aerial? My Avtex telly has separate connections for sat dish and freeview antenna as it has seperate tuners. I would expect this to be normal situation with most similar tvs. Also, I think a voltage is supplied to the sat dish LNB from the tv so don't think you could link the two feed cables externally. ETA Loddon beat me to it 😀

Thanks all. Gifts comprised 40 shades of malts. They know what granddad likes 😉 Finally made the three score and ten, so I guess it's downhill from now on.
