And how much fuel does your car burn to get there and back, plus on the times recovery of the glider is needed how much fuel is used for that? I haven’t landed out for at least 10 years. Oooh err mister !

I haven’t landed out for at least 10 years. How many miles there and back in your car? Thousands. But I have a very economical car.

Terrible thing to have to admit to.

I think they are illegal but not sure. Why not give Cressida Dick a call?

Yes of course I can see it - for live aboard boaters in London anyway. But sometimes things don’t always go the way you want them to and in my opinion, it is quite likely that if urban boaters persist in creating noise and smoke in an inconsiderate way, more draconian restrictions and penalties will be created. It doesn’t matter if you like it, if I like it, whether it’s “fair” or not. It will happen unless boaters take care to minimise the nuisance they cause to others when in residential urban areas. In other words, complying with the notice is likely to be the lesser of the two evils in the long term. Plus of course, isn’t it a good thing to encourage people to be considerate? Probably in short supply in London where it’s every man for himself and dog eat dog etc, but no harm in trying! Plus the fact there is quite a high churn rate ie people live on boats but would rather not its just a cheap and as soon as possible they go onto land. If you know that any future changes will not affect you then you can more or less do what you like so being considerate is probably not that interesting as a strategy to a lot of people. Also not maintaining the boat probably suits their way of life. You'd imagine by now that many of the boats parked permanently in London are just rusting away and about to go gurgle gurgle and end up on the bottom. Time for insurance companies to go and insist that hull surveys are up-to-date, and to consider raising their premiums.

Would I get negative air miles for flying my glider for hours without using any fossil fuels? Depends how many miles do you travel there and back to the airfield? It's about 40 miles to Kokkola airport. I heard today I'm free from work 2-4 Jan, so now it's time to look for plane tickets. To Manchester again, methinks. I certainly don't care about pollution when I see how everybody else if flying and driving huge BMWs and Mercedes and Nissan Qashkais.

I find the bit about not running the engine between 8pm and 8am quite funny where it says that this does not intend to prevent you moving the boat. It just shows the sort of dimwits CRT have to deal with. Not at all. At night you can tie bats to the front of the boat with string, and they will happily pull you along.

You will always hate CRT. It seems to be built into your genes. The point I'm trying to get across is that carts managment do not have livaboard boaters interests at heart. Why should they have? It's a business. Virgin Trains also do not give a stuff about their cattle - the profit margin is all that counts (and avoiding paying UK taxes, eh, Mr Branson?)

You've quoted me out of context again? Not really. We fly a lot. Not to mention all the old engine oil that we've disposed of. It's a very fuel-consuming hobby is leisure boating.
