What is that film? Is it from when he was still funny? It's the only film I've seen where Steve Martin gets it spot on. Trains, Planes & Automobiles. Script is good, filming/direction is good; it's one of those films where you want to watch every second. 1987, directed by John Hughes. I also like it because I've been to those parts of America. I bought this DVD a few months ago but it remained in its wrapper until Sam was up this week when we watched it two nights in a row (because after we'd watched it once, we realised that there were loads of subtle nuances we didn't fully "get" the first time). The scene where Del revealed that he had no home to go to and his wife had been dead for eight years was absolutely tear-jerking and we thought the whole film was superb. Thanks for the recommendation.

Another film from that era worth a watch is 'My cousin Vinny'.
Very funny.

I'm doing a speed awareness course in Oxford on 7th august. 53mph in a 40 on a 3 lane motorway at 6am.
Very naughty.
As it happens I am doing away with my car anyway as virtually never use it but did want to keep my license clean as it has always been.
Might be an interesting day out for me as I have a pretty limited day to day existence usually without much interaction with other humans.
Camera location was shown as "Near Grand Union Canal" which I found rather satisfactory !

oh, I must of missed it first time but to my knowledge dogless you dont have to pay to change to your first photo licence. But I do see the upsides of keeping your paper licence, there are not many around.

I Hope you realise the tolerances for a course is 10%+9 so you were right on the limit 1mph faster and its £100 and 3 points.

I was hoping to keep my paper licence until my 70th ... going to be tough in todays climate of speed enforcement Rog Did it on line ...... course that meant I lost my 7.5 tonner entitlement but as I couldn't remember when I last drove one (several decades ago at least) I'm happy enough with 3.5 ton if I need owt bigger.

One of my top ten ever.
