Bit like one dickhead fucking driver has to. use the roads then pay. If you drive and cycle then pay more, if cyclist have or casue an accident then who pays. come on i thought you were a sensible person ? Come on, any sensible person actually knows a cyclist insurance and tax scheme is virtually unenforceable. What would be the point? I wish they would. Afterall the tax disc they wouldn't have to display would be free anyway.

i won't cycle on roads because of attitudes like yours. Should I send you my timetable just in case you thought it might be nice to cycle round here?

I bet it pisses you right off we dont have to tax or MOT them too.. That's often something that really irks the anti caravan lobby.....

I wouldn't want a caravan in a million years but I don't really understand what people have against them. Is it the pikey connection? I suppose if the non MoT'd caravan drops its axle in front of me on the motorway I would be a bit miffed but I genuinely don't understand what the problem with them is other than some unlikely accident possibilities. Very odd.
They are toweringly naff but each to their own !

It's been traditional to hate caravans since the 60's and 70's when you got stuck behind them. Ever seen one trying to reverse on a single track road?

Some people might think it strange that people like to pootle about a muddy ditch in a metal tub (I dont) but I guess some people just have irrational prejudices against lots of things.

Caravaners like places that mostly have single carriageway (or worse still single track) roads as their destination meaning the rest of society ends up stuck behind them chewing their steering wheel. Towing a boat, motorbike, glider, hot air balloon, burger van, fair ground ride, mobile tat stall, race, rally or classic car, vintage farm machinery, builders trailer, compressors, genie lifts, horse box - anything other than a tin shed tbh is fine though π

during the 90's I worked away from home, travelling back at weekends from the north east to the south west - M1, M42, M5. I had a mobile phone for work, long before they were commonly used. I reported to the police no less than 6 accidents involving caravans, including jack-knifing and overturning. I don't recall seeing any other 'just happened' accidents.
the problem is not restricted to narrow country roads.
The oddest case was on a Sunday afternoon on the long hill down from Clevedon towards the Avon Bridge. Heavy traffic ahead was suddenly braking - there was a large white box sitting in the fast lane, followed by odd bits of domestic stuff across all 3 lanes. Half a mile further on a Range Rover hitched up to a trailer frame was stopped on the hard shoulder - the lady driver was standing next to the trailer scratching her head like something out of a cartoon film.

Between the house and the gliding club is a 2000' mountain pass (with a long uphill straight) and I enjoy hurtling past the tourists with my enormous trailer whilst they gasp in horror. Going uphill that is, going downhill you have to be more careful.
