A well written statement by Mrs May. Sound judgement in my view regarding Brexit negotiations from a position of strength. Of course if we wake up on the 9th with a new labour Prime minister, the judgement may not prove as sound as it looks. And everybody told me we'd never vote for Brexit, and that Trump could never be president. Care to step through the looking glass anyone? Rog Its worth putting £50 on you know I won on both brexit and trump will be voting tory though

... Care to step through the looking glass anyone? I'm going for a reduced Conservative majority and an outside chance that the Conservatives will have to form a coalition.

With the volatility of the world situation, together with the need for strong leadership to negotiate our way out of the maze that is the EU.......
whatever one's politics, I wonder if anything but a large Tory majority, wouldn't be a disaster.
This will really be a 'single issue' election, don't you think.
They say it is an old Chinese curse.....
'May you live in interesting times'

The result will be interesting whichever way it goes.
My view is that I don't know where the disenfranchised and floating voters (I am one) will go. I don't think they will all turn to the Conservatives and political parties/pols should not ignore them.
Anyway, I've had my punt, lets see how right/wrong I am in 7 odd weeks.

I think she will win as people, irrespective of how they voted, want a decent Brexit that is good for the country and not good for point scoring. The Liberals want to block brexit which will be a disaster for the UK as we will end up paying the full whack with no rebate and no say/veto. Labour who I think will give up whatever it takes to stay in the single market, though to be honest I am no longer clear as to what the actual policies rather than slogans are for labour. I can see a low turn out as the Tories will vote, but for the rest they will not want to vote for a bad Brexit and certainly will not want to vote Tory on principle, so have no on to vote for.

Our local MP (Labour) has announced he isn't going to stand and I believe there are a few others who are doing the same.
He will be no loss.

Maybe he wants to start looking for a real job straight away? Who would employ an ex back bench MP? What are they good for??

What a shit election this will be. Mrs Mayhem the clear favourite, who would have predicted that a year ago? Labour aren't in any position to contend. I like the Lib Dems, but they don't really stand a chance. There isn't really any possible good outcome to this election.
I think the best we can hope for is some sort of coalition involving the Lib Dems.

It will be interesting it's been a reasonably strong labour hold for a while now. The last time it was Tory was from memory in Thatcher's days or shortly after. If there is a big resurgence in Tory popularity across the country I would think it would revert to them.

Especially after the last Con/Lib/Dem coalition.

Especially after the last Con/Lib/Dem coalition. I think it went better than a Conservative government would have gone. The Lib Dems kept them in check a little bit. Their influence may have been small but it was noticeable.
