So what do we do if we don't like the final proposal? Nothing, because the majority are too thick. They won't recognise an issue until it actually hits them. By that time it will be too late, because there won't be any support for them. I've just said exactly the same thing in save the bridgewater. Nobody gives a tuppenny about anything unless it's their chips that are being pissed on. Anything affecting anyone else is just too difficult to deal with. Anarchy you see. It's the only way forward.

I can say that I tried very hard to get invited and was refused and yes I am a widebeam owner, Richard my mate tried as well same story! I really do hope this comes back and bites them hard very hard, as it might be a lesson to change things for changes sake They said they'd invited 25 but only 5 or 6 of us were there. What proof do you have that CRT were lying with their 'numbers invited'? what makes you believe the other 19/20 weren't invited but actually, they just couldn't be fuckin arsed?

What proof do you have that CRT were lying with their 'numbers invited'? what makes you believe the other 19/20 weren't invited but actually, they just couldn't be fuckin arsed? I didn't say they were lying about the numbers. You're right most of them just couldn't be arsed. I know of at least two that said they were going and didn't turn up. What did surprise me though was that there were no wide beamers there. If they were invited and didn't turn up then that's their own fault. And serves them right if they do get stung. The reason I think it's a con is because I only found out by accident. It wasn't publicised in any of the boating press. I certainly didn't get an email about it, although I don't know if anyone else did. And they have no real explanation for why they're having it anyway. So I think it's a con. Or letting them say they've asked us and this is what we think. It will be what about 30 people all over the country have discussed. Not what we decided. Because we didn't decide anything. We just discussed options. And gave a general consensus of which of the shit offers we considered to be least shitty for the majority. It's just another way to get us all arguing amongst ourselves. Make wide beams pay, no make cc's pay, no make moorers pay, no make boat shares pay. Why don't all the organisations that are supposed to represent boaters. Just write to CaRT and say that they have discussed with their members and £'s x feet has always been the measure, they've always been happy with it. And they won't pay under any other system. But thanks for asking.

So...you know people who were invited but couldn't be arsed?
It wasn't in any boating press or emailed....bullshit, it's been publicised & talked about for months in all the boating press & forums!
Maybe...just maybe said reprientational groups wont write to CRT that reply because not everyone believes everything should be left as it it!

I've got threads running to save a canal and people can't be arsed with that either. If they can't be arsed they'll get what they get. I could be arsed, I went and I said what I thought. As did the others that could be arsed. As I said we didn't make any decisions. I think the general consensus was status quo is the way to go. I think it's a con and it's already been decided. And it doesn't matter a tinkers cuss what we think or want. But maybe that's just me being cynical.

We are probably going to have to accept that the canals have been privatised by stealth and the government and courts will not do anything to get in the way of that. Its probably also likely that the government have secretly told CRT this is the case.

So what do we do if we don't like the final proposal? If you look at past consultations you will find that proposals made are often watered down or abandoned. Publicity and the use of C&RT's complaints procedure often get results.

Just received an invite to post my thoughts via a survey.... Anyone else got this or am I one of the chosen few?
The Canal & River Trust is running a consultation about how boats are licensed on the Trust’s waterways and would like you to take part. The consultation asks boaters their views on the fairest and simplest way to split the important financial contribution made by the different types of boats and boaters towards the upkeep of the waterways.
There have been two stages of the consultation so far, both run by Involve (an independent organisation specialising in public engagement). These stages have involved interviews with national boating organisations (stage one) and face-to-face workshops with boaters held across the country (stage two). The reports from both are available to read on our website.
Both of the stages have informed the consultation survey that we’re now asking you’re your views on. Please follow the link below to complete the e-survey by Monday 18 December 2017. Please note the that this link is unique for you and will allow you to complete the survey once (you will be able to part complete the survey, save it and return to complete it later if you wish). The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.

Just had a look in my Hotmail junk folder and it is in there. Not sure why as usually comms from CRT go straight to my inbox.
Maybe it's a way to ensure minimum response? No idea how often people check their junk mail but I don't do it very often on my personal email.
MI5 is a different thing altogether but I would never give CRT that email address.

I've checked email inbox and spam folder. I'll phone them, maybe tmw. Is there an option to suggest that it stays the same.
