Anyway, just had a look again at the labour manifesto main points:
Scrap tuition fees: I think the current fad for everyone going to university is wrong. Rather than scrap university tuition fees, I'd concentrate on apprenticeships and vocational training.
Nationalise English water companies: I live in Scotland, do I give a fuck? But to be fair, it's a good idea in principle but where does the money come from to buy out the shareholders?
Tax the rich because we despise them: 'Nuff said.
More free childcare: why should my taxes go to encouraging more children by parents who can't look after them? Why have children if you're going to farm them out to strangers in their formative years?
Guarantee the pension triple lock: the double lock seems fair, the triple lock seems unnecessarily costly - even though I'll shortly be collecting my OAP.
End zero hours contracts: trouble is, zero hours contracts suit some people. Why deprive them? A middle path of controlling / limiting rather than banning would be better.
Lots of new coppers and firefighters: great, but where is the money coming from?
Moves to charge companies a levy on high boardroom salaries. Great, but what does "moves" mean. I guess they haven't actually thought out the policy yet.
Deliver rail electrification : whooppee - whatever that means. I can't remember the last time I took a train since trains don't go where I want to go and if they do, flying is cheaper.

Any anyway. If you're Scottish, fuck off and play with your own barmpots. We've got enough descendent here without you lot chipping in. The Tories haven't got a chance up there.
I'll credit you with a bit of sense, as a race not an individual......

Not to support it being given back to ours after good Tory policy took it away? Interesting

I voted to leave the shit hole that is the EU no other party will deliver that so millions like myself will vote tory because none of the others can be trusted to do the job. Its a sad fact of life that people get old and require care, and unless taxes are raised dramatically it aint going to happen without some payment from the person receiving the care. Its no good looking to the rich for everything because the last time they were getting clobbered they buggered off to other countries [and took the cash with them] and in some cases companies closed down and jobs were lost, so we do need those rich people. Now I wouldnt trust corbyn to tie his shoe laces [ he might fall over and end up shagging abbot] on his own, and I wouldnt trust him with defending our country, as he has repeatedly sided with the IRA etc, not good really is it as a potential leader? In the manufacto she says. 'Leave the Economic Union and forge closer links with our allies in Europe. The economic union no longer exists it is the European Economic COMMUNITY. What she means is. She'll dump all the workers rights and still trade tax and levy free with her rich mates on the continent. I've just read the manifesto and that phrase is not in it. It only uses European union. Afaik the eec does not exist anymore anyway.

How odd, that you should consider that where you are educated, should have any bearing on your intelligence and your political nous. (although not having the benefit of a comprehensive school doesn't seem to assist with spelling) I'm sure I read something about a meritocracy somewhere today. I think I also read about someone mentioning grammar schools? It seems that you subscribe to the view held by too many, that merit is limited to those of high academic achievement. During my life I have come across many highly qualified idiots, who should be firmly kept away from anything with sharp edges. Meritocracy is an ideal system ......... first define merit

How can anyone possibly attempt to discuss any merits of Jeremy Corbyn.
Look at his voting record as a Labour MP. You'll have to look hard as he rarely bothered!
He is the epitome of a hypocrite. As a back bencher he 'stands on his principles'. As leader he demands loyalty (a word he cannot even spell) and selects any policy which he believes will sell well in the media.
The man is destroying a once great political party, with a lot of help.

I'll credit you with a bit of sense, as a race not an individual.... I said I lived in Scotland, not that I am Scottish. I was born in Birmingham and lived in Englandshire until I was 25 or so. Anyway whilst the tories won't get a majority of MPs I'm sure they will increase their vote significantly as labour is seen as no-hope and the tories are best for an anti-indyref2 vote. Of course if the U.K. voting system wasn't the ridiculous 1st past the post system, but more like the Scottish parliament system, your government's wouldn't get massive majorities and would have to mind their Ps and Qs a bit more.

bodger - I wondered if it was someone we already know from here and cwdf, possibly? The style of posting seems familiar somehow. I guess it takes all sorts.

A lot of people did lots of effing and blinding when they started on this unmoderated forum, then calmed down a bit after a while.
