CRT can do anything they want. And boaters will either have to accept it or challenge CRT's interpretation of section 43 1962 Transport act which they claim permits them to do anything they want, as it stands boaters have no statutory rights. ( the ombudsman report I posted on here confirms that CRT policy is that all the statutory rights due to licence holders set out in acts of parliment can be overridden by CRT cancelling the contract they claim you have with them. ) So how are you going to challenge it?

Its not possible for me to challenge it. It will require a proper legal case to be put forward and funded, i have no idea why anyone would go to all that trouble for the majority of boaters who are not interested. The various boating organisations only look out for their own self interests, no way would they use their funds for the benefit of all. Boaters have stood by while their rights have been taken away, now they have to take the concequences. For all practicle purposes your licence is now a contract, of which you have to comply with but CRT does not, and can be cancelled at any time without notice or reason.

Unless a boater, or number of boaters, feel particularly aggrieved enough to do something about it nothing will happen. The likes of me and you may feel a bit pissed off about the creep we have seen over the years, but until someone actually sells our boat or removes it from the cut, nothing will happen. What we can do is back those who have been stitched up. It might be one of us next.
