Seen on a long term mooring. Sign say there will be an Overstay charge of £150 per day. My mind is saying it is a fine/punishment and CRT are not empowered to fine or punish Thoughts on legality? Can't upload image and I don't have an online store

Sounds more like a load of horseshit threat by a paid up towpath moorer sick of coming back to his spot being occupied !

Refers to District Enforcement Ltd and authorises them to use debit recovery to recover charges. Also empowers them to move the vessel as instructed by CRT.

I'm intrigued how they would actually recover charges? Put a ticket on your window? Clamp your prop? Impound your buckby cans?

No debt recovery company could remove your boat. There is no debt. It can't be any different to car parking tickets.
All they could do is send scary letters in red ink.
Edited to add.
They are in fact a private parking company. Right up my street. Please someone get a fine.

I thought so. District enforcement are self styled contract law specialists. So that's the avenue they would probaly take. Easy peasy to beat them.

ey would never get away with 150 quid in a court. I might put this on peppipoo and see the reaction.
Would crt be in breach of data protection laws if they passed on a boat owners details to a third party agent because there is no reasonable reason to do so. Crt should and can deal with the problem
But then what could DE they do They can only send letters.
I will never believe that crt have given them a signed contract saying they can take boat owners to court. Of they have then we'll they are really stupid.
I wonder if the local council know 6DE have started offering daily moorings for £150. I would ask for a vat receipt.
