The wife and I have had a lovely weekend out on the boat at the Ship Inn up the creek festival. We are currently moored at Toms Hole on the river Lark masking up coach lines on the side of the boat. We've had to watch 4 blokes and a woman with Eastern European accents fishing multiple rods and hand lines and taking fish out and killing them, all the time leaving most of the lines unattended. I phoned Mervyn Day, the local E.A river inspector and left a message, but no call back. They've now, thankfully, packed up and fucked off so I can relax again, but as a boater and an angler I was fuming! Trouble is, the few fuckwits like this give the majority a bad name in some circles and are a gift to the bigots trying to make their case.

I did, and will email the E.A later. I shouldn't grumble about Mervyn Day, everyone deserves a day off, but have seen him about on Sunday's before. It's a shame no one could come and catch the bastards in the act. They left a keep net full of live fish on the bank to die whilst packing their gear away. I wanted to go and run the boat through all their gear and lines but the wife said no in case they turned violent.

Haven't you got anything more important to get stressed out about than people catching fish? Is there a severe shortage of fish in that area?

As it happens, fish stocks are down on the Lark, especially pike, and it's this sort of thing that's helped to cause that. I have got plenty of other stuff to worry about, but the law was being blatantly broken right in front of me and if we all ignore this sort of thing then we might as well have the the wild fucking west.

They were catching fish, not having a fucking shootout. Can we presume you also report everyone you see speeding, smoking pot, or downloading movies?

That is definately NOT Andy Wingfield..... Larkboy can actually spell, punctuate and produce a post that people can actually read and understand, abiet, it is a load of old shite in this instance! So no, your claim is unsuccessful this time!

Somebody smoking a joint isn't doing me or anybody else any harm, whereas somebody illegally catching fish is depleting fish stocks, which is causing harm. Similarly, although I wouldn't concern myself with somebody driving at 33 mph in a 30 mph limit, I would involve myself and/or the police if I saw a bunch of pikeys going along syphoning diesel out of boaters' tanks.

They are usually after the carp which is an invasive species anyway. Who gives a fuck if they deplete the carp stocks.

Don't know if they got any pike but one took a net full of decent sized roach. Just because you don't give a shit about it doesn't mean I shouldn't, this river is my home!
