Getting back to the poor engine bearing.... can we determine whether the engineer fixed the result or the source. To me a shagged bearing does not just get shagged by itself Yes I know boring, but relevantπ

Everybody else will just be guessing. I do find it strange that they say they don't know which bearing.

Name that mechanic - and then he/she can tell us what the issue is. Has no-one on Carnalworld asked mtb this very simple question?

I thought Emerald Fox was one of the members originally selected to be banned from CW?
I may have got that wrong. It occurs sometimes albeit very rarely.

I went to cwdf ( I know shame) to see if mick had said anything about this engine here's what he's posted.
now for sale on ebay.
I'd like to point out this is not my sale. I disposed of the seized engine for a pittance to the boatyard that removed it for me, and they have decided to list it on ebay.
Anyone considering buying it needs to be aware the engine seized as stated in the listing, and probably needs a new big end bearing casting.
The engine also has three other tricky problems, all cooling-related. The water jacket on the cylinder is leaking badly, having corroded through from the inside. The water pump casting is cracked and is leaking coolant at about 1 litre an hour even when the engine is not running. The cooling jacket around the exhaust expansion box is cracked, has been repaired and the repair has failed, again leaking coolant at a helluva rate.
The Β£3,500 asking price seems hopelessly optimistic to me, but that is their decision not mine. Fair play to them if they can get it!

Sometimes you have to spend good money to buy a totally shagged engine, just so you can get the one unavailable part you need for yours.
A mate just spent good money on a totally seized and corroded Thorneycroft Handy Billy, just to take one casting from it

I went to log-in last August and was greeted with a message saying "People like you are not welcome here." I do look at the Stoppages section there often - it's publicly available.
