I can replace an oil filter,do fuses, plus lots of other useful jobs.My dad gave me a tool kit when I went off to college.Great man my dad👍 + me....my dad made sure I knew how to change fuses and tyres..never had a go at an oil filter for real but I went on engine maintenance course..trouble with blokes is they stereotype us females.... My dads friend used to say I was more use around the farm than any lad....I have all my dads tools in my cupboard just in case and I always try to fix stuff myself.. I goes away for couple days and look what happens.. men!!! Several of my more Neanderthal colleagues and a couple of friends asked if I was a little disappointed having a girl what with my interests centring around all things mechanical - bikes (particularly off road motorcycling) boats, cars etc. My Reply?, not a bit! gender is no barrier to being able to use your hands or ride a motorcycle. If she shows an interest I'll teach her and support her, along with Patty and Trina's dad's she'll get taught how to do the everyday stuff that shouldn't be considered off limits to girls.

My last apprentice was a wonderful young lady, very talented. My local Porsche specialist is a Ms Kath Burrows a fantastic mechanic running a fantastic business, she rides a Ducati 1198 fast too! Oh and she's a girl! 👍

Probably not but might be good to slither off thread with few stereotypical statements ...sorta balance stuff out

I have never met a woman with 'mechanical sympathy' - you need to have some interest as to how things work before you can use them skilfully, or repair/maintain them. Yes, women can drive cars (clumsily) but always wait for a man to come and help when something breaks. Men really don't give a toss about quilting or other peoples' babies.

Not sure agree with this...there are some very successful female engineers... As to stereotyping women as clumsy drivers...hmm not sure about that either..I think we r more careful(more stereotyping?) I don't really give toss about quilting or other folks babies.. I think trying to corral people according to gender not gonna happen.

Update: Finally grabbed her attention when my memory foam mattress cover, which I was airing on the roof, blew into the cut. Turns out she is an ex poster on 'the other channel' and remembered discussing welfare benefits with me. She remembered how I'd discuss things logically rather then quickly resorting to personal insults. Keep the compliments coming please! She left after a couple of hours chatting outside my boat with 'I might come back later'. We will see.

Might be best to delete this thread or clean it up, she might just come for a look, that could be a spoiler!

What a sheltered life you lead! I worked for loads of female engineers over the years. They were to a woman go-getting, straightforward and focussed on getting the job done, as was I. A real pleasure. And I helped a stunning blonde thirty-something lady to design and build a performance engine - she researched from scratch and was on top of it all. She probably was exceptional. Everywhere she went for machining, balancing, parts etc, after 10 minutes they realised she knew her shit and someone would ask her to marry them - I was one of them. Gay sadly and far too young for me to keep up with anyway.

Now then Christopher, can you imagine how insulted she would be if she read a comment like that? She has never insulted you, so why would you insult her? Who's christopher? I think if you re-read what I have written you'll find its you im taking the piss out of. ( I reckon I owe you a few piss takings) Aw it's all done in jest. I have told everyone what a sound fella you are, and if you saw the complimentary words I had for you in a PM to another Thunderboater just a few days ago, you'd blush.
