Anyone any experience with having a boat 'stretched'?
Just mulling ideas as to a tug conversion front deck on mine by adding another 6 foot to convert to an under deck visitor bedroom and putting a false deck floor onto my existing deck to give the appearance of a 10ft flat tug deck and give some useful storage!
I know Kedian charge approx Β£695 per foot for a full height stretch job So I would think a tug conversion would be similar in price which I thinks reasonable considering!
I'm aware of all the incidentals that would need modding, gas/water etc, they are no issue.
Any cons to this idea and any advice yay or nay?

Johnathon Wilson and all pics lost when a fone went down!! It was a complicated job in lots of ways so your simple stretch should go well

If the preparation and welding is done properly it should be fine.

As long as your engine is powerful enough for the bigger size it doesn't have many cons. I think Kedian will charge less if it's just a tug deck. My friend had his stretched by Kedian and is very happy with how it turned out.

I could do with an extra bedroom at the front. Boats never seem to be laid out with a bedroom at each end...

Martin's work at Keidan is top notch, ex Hancock and Lane. No real negative from stretching your current boat if it is very near your ideal, other than spanking your wallet a little

I could get it back if I shuffle him 7ft forwards and make a 57ft boat. I wonder how long the job takes.

There's some info and prices on www.keidanengineering.co.uk.. think I'm gonna seriously look into it, mines ideally suited to a tug conversion and somewhere for my bike when I'm away on my travelsπ

Vat on top? His yard isn't near canal so lorries and cranes on top plus fitting out. Top end of Β£10-15k for mine I bet.
