There isn't a glue available which is strong enough to do that. The fact that he can't get it out with an Allen key (which is what it was designed for) means it is going to be a bitch to remove so will need drilling out. At least an Allen bolt has a centred hole to start the drill in.

From a damaged fastener to African civil war? That's thread drift I guess. I hate civil war. Uncivil war is so much more straightforward. well i think we r overdue a thread drift..... I don't know much about Civil War though..and whats uncivil war?..cannot remember that in Hstory do you think Foxy can take this thread elsewhere? UnCivil War is where the enemy attack at night which forces our fine troops to have to fight in their pyjamas.

I would like Jacob Zuma to be in hot water, he's a despicable creature. 21 children - does he remember all their birthdays? It was coming anyway, as people get older they become an ever easier target. Mafia bosses always end up in a sticky mess.

Bit of a long shot, but might an impact driver with an allen key bit, good clout with a hammer stand a chance of starting it off? Bloody things are next to useless or maybe it's the operator. Mine is peening over from whacking but I don't remember it ever working. One method never failed me - build up a high power blob of weld and undo with molegrips. The heat will have loosened it. Mig is best for that it's easy to aim. My experience has been different, maybe I've been lucky! I couldn't remove a cover on the 35 yo motorbike I bought recently. All 6 Phillips head bolts were rounded off. Lots of grunting with an appropriate screwdriver only succeeded in rounding them off even more. Bought an impact driver, couple of good whacks on each screw had them loosened off, now replaced with nice shiny stainless steel Allen head ones

Agreed, impact drivers are a saviour. There is a bit of a technique to using them though.

Agreed, impact drivers are a saviour. There is a bit of a technique to using them though. especially if you want to avoid them giving you a nasty nip (Battery ones are much more finger friendly )

I've just been fettling an old honda 10 to put on eBay, the gearbox oil drain and fill screws were really tight, the screwdriver slot already chewed. I used my 12v impact screwdriver, it worked a treat.

Impact drivers are specifically designed for use on Japanese motorbikes and outboard engines.
I seldom use mine for anything else!

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I wondered if the job got finished, or filed under stuff that?

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I wondered if the job got finished, or filed under stuff that? Rog Same here, the advice given seem sound with all the many different approaches covered. I'm keen to hear which one you plumped for and whether the damn thing shifted.

I haven't made an attempt yet. Once I had assured myself that there was no canal water getting in the job became less urgent, and got added to the large list of jobs that will need doing at some point soon, if I ever get any free time.

Perhaps we could all stop posting on here for a week to give Delta time to catch up on things?
