Yes, I might nip up to Preston and get one, trouble is there are a few different starter motors fitted to the BMC 1.5, plus it's an exchange deal anyway so I'll have to take the old one off first. In any event if it does pack up completely I can always get the engine going by shorting out the solenoid terminals with a screwdriver or somesuch. If the starter doesn't turn on the key but does with a screwdriver short, is the problem the ignition switch? Or maybe a poor connection on the solenoid. Those solenoids are pretty renown for pitting and going high resistance on the contacts...I'd bet a pound to a piece of shit that's the problem! id take it off the starter and give the contacts a good clean up with a file / emery.

Yes, I agree, cleaning the contacts would be the first thing to do.

Here's the latest Desiree news. I sorted out my starter solenoid, it was just bad connections. I've been on the River Weaver all this week and have been exploring Northwich too, it's a lovely town. I met the Dave Brock lookalike below in a local pub and invited him to have a day out on the boat, which he did, with his nephew, and they were absolutely blown away by the experience. His nephew, Archie, now wants to live on a boat. I love having anybody along for the ride but particularly people who have never been on a narrowboat before. My boy comes up on the train on Friday, we have the Anderton Boat Lift booked for 0915 on Saturday and then we are going to thrash back to Rose Narrowboats to get the boat blacked. Then I'll be driving back to Ramsgate and staying there until that is done, this will be the first time I have set foot in a house since last Christmas. Then I don't know. Probably back to the mooring and back to work for the Winter.

At the VM just before Red Bull locks now. A bit of a slow day as almost every lock on Heartbreak Hill was against us. Can't be bothered to go any further as it will be too late to get through Harecastle Tunnel today. I would have liked to have moored outside the tunnel itself as there are loads of scrotes who need stabbing at Kidsgrove but my son is dead against the idea.
Maybe Stone tomorrow, I always enjoy having an overnight stop there. On schedule to be back at my mooring on Saturday.

Its good to hear that your son does not share your urge to kill.
He sounds like a nice lad, a role model for you perhaps.

You have done well, whether you know it yet or not. He sounds fairly well adjusted.. That said, come the Zombie Apocalypse the practical ability to move quickly, take very little shit, kill quietly and with minimum fuss will prove invaluable.... You seem to have enough of that fire in your belly. He should have a full understanding of the concept of Defence operationally and the value of an easily deployable and innocuous looking 'tool', these are skills you hold in Spades and should impart. Play to your strengths. It's the least you can do as a Dad:) You do the Alpha-Male stuff and let him fill out your Tax-Return. He is brighter than you and you should be proud. Good Work, T...

Mr Stabby!, it's all a front.
If you can't be bothered to knife at least one person a day you are a charlatan.
