Premature expostulation, sorry. The old problem Rog Don't worry, it happens to everyone sometimes, nothing to be embarrassed about.

HOld on...you mean if we are up near Stoke Bruerne (which we aren't all that far away) and want to go for a walk up the towpath say to one of the pubs/restaurants we'll have to pay £7.50 each on top of our bar/restaurant bill?? or have I misunderstood the OP? Can they legally close a portion of the tow path for an event &/or charge for it's use? In my mind I already pay to use the towpath, as do all other boaters who have a CRT license. We are actually planning on going up to SB; but thankfully it isn't for another 3 weeks. Does snyone know if the forge near the tunnel enterance is still in operation? It seems the law and canals don't seem to go together anymore. And I still can't get a proper copper to speak to Bridgewater about their illegal charge. I wonder when the next transport revolution comes along, if roads will be as obsolete as canals and anyone can do anything they want to so long as they wear a peaked hat?

I have wondered about this since I first started boating on UK canals. Its an obsolete transport system. At some point roads will be the same once the drones take over.
When old derelict motorways become an enthusiasts restoration project what will traditionalists be looking for ? things like original Eddie Stobart lettering on trucks, authentic dead prostitute blood?
Brass ww2 gas mask bag clips?

Actually I've been trying to sell my Saab 9000 on eBay as its shagged due to me doing zero maintenance other than MoT requirements (I love cheap motoring) in 8 years so I bought a newer car. So far one buyer has failed to turn up. The new (2008) car is pretty good.
