and incidentally the 90% result is not "misleading". It says just that. according to the reported figures 90% of those who voted were for independence.
40% of the electorate voted ( there have been worse turnouts ) even though a number of voting stations were closed by police action and a large number of voters at other voting stations prevented from voting by police action.
This indicates whatever you wish to make of it but it suggests to me that if that number of people were willing to turn out and vote in spite of police harassment and downright police brutality then there is a very large majority who want out from under the Madrid government.
If you wish to insist that it is just a minority of troublemakers then do so but produce a reasoned argument, ideally with some evidence.
So far all you have done is misquote and try and lead, what was a serious and concerned discussion, into one of your favourite tit for tat shouting sessions.

So I take it from your sulky rant that in fact you agree with me that the figure of 90% that you repeated, was misleading. Are you really trying to tell me that you can't read a post correctly ? I quoted Sky News (a figure that has since been repeated by the BBC) that the referendum result was 90% in favour of independence ..... No more .... No less. As regards a rant ..... the only one so far, and also the only descent into rudeness in this thread is from you. For God's sake do some research and stop spouting rubbish Sulky sulky! You were the one who first descended into rudeness whilst I was merely trying to make the point that the 90% figure was meaningless. I'm sure you don't realise you were rude, because it's your normal MO when someone has a different opinion from you -which is why you were banned from CWDF.

First of all it's misleading because 90% of what? Secondly even if we say 90% of the minority of the population who voted, I have no faith in the figure because it is produced by the people who want the yes result. They have a clear vested interest in talking up the figure and, bearing in mind they were quite happy to break the law and the constitution by organising the vote, how could we possibly have any faith in the result being unbiased and not simply a lie?

I've never had any warnings, but one short ban when I kept telling Dan that his forum was going down the pan and it was his fault.

Exactly the same reason as you were banned ..... for "Fomenting dissent" only my ban was by Bones and was an instant lifetime ban ... I never appealed as I consider arguing against what has proved to be a very bad regime was correct and I have no desire to have anything to do with such a group as long as it is in the hands of an "owner" who is more concerned about how it reflects his own CV and political views than that of the membership

The appalling sight of the Spanish police in full riot equipment, attacking and beating on-duty fire fighters who were trying to protect the public, would indicate the total break down of authority in Catalonia.
I suspect that some form of independence is now inevitable.

Rog Indeed, its worth remembering that these were not local police (who in the main as I understand it didn't get involved as much) it was a National Police Service bussed in to try and prevent the referendum take place kick seven bells out of the local population.

I think if another vote was held it would be 90%!! clearly the worst move the government could have made was what they did yesterday No I disagree. Those significant proportion of people not wanting independence will be quite glad to see the nationalist fanatic troublemakers under the cosh. As I said earlier, it will polarise opinion not change it. Well if you had watched the news last night it has changed peoples minds, and previously they were happy with the status quo, now they want independence I fully expect this to grow

You know nick you really learn to stop when you are wrong. Put simply of those that managed to vote 90% voted for independence. With the input of the spanish government over 750,000 votes were ceased and not counted, polling stations forcibly closed etc. But whatever you like to say or twist 90% of those that voted voted for independence. Now go back in your cage.
