I fear one reason Jews seem to attract hatred is that neither they nor many outside Judaism will accept there is a difference between the Jewish religion and Zionism. I see this as two distinct things. Criticise The sate of Israel and Jews and others immediately allege you are anti-Semitic rather than acknowledge the Israeli state may have faults and questions to answer. I can see no reason why all religions and none can not peacefully live together but we have extremists from all sides making that difficult. I do find the way Israelis seem to immediately scream holocaust when criticised very annoying and makes me want to tar all Jews with the same brush. Of course Trump wants to curry favour with rich members of the Jewish Faith , he is going to need campaign funds in a year or two. Ordinary folk can go taker a hike in his book. Edited to add - Although I do not know much about it I suspect the Jewish faith or some sects within the Jewish faith engenders a sense of entitlement and even supremacy within its followers that is far from attractive. I wonder how many people in this world have died as a result of fighting over stereotypes or labels? If we just accepted there is good and bad in all of us as individuals at different times, it would be a lot easier. The big thing I've learnt in recent years is that when we judge others, we judge ourselves. It still makes me feel uncomfortable at times. It's still interesting talking about this kind of stuff though despite not really having any answers. Respect and tolerance is fine for the likes of you and I but when you start to move towards the extremes of religion you start to lose sight of that. When you believe your God is the only God and some other Muppet starts saying his God is the only God and a many years ago that Muppets ancestors took some of your land. Well it's only going to end one way. I suppose what's acceptable in your own country will come into it too. Some of us have a conscience. I'm not suggesting there are many or any extreme Jews but a general view of mine.

We should all learn to live together in mutual respect and understanding. For a week maybe Well it often goes downhill on a daily basis beteen individuals, but fortunately most of the time we see it in ourselves to resolve things eventually. If everyone gave up every time we got pissed off we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I'm not suggesting there are many or any extreme Jews but a general view of mine. Are you afraid of being called anti-semitic? Of course there are extreme Jews in the same way there are extreme Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims etc etc etc. The fact that the term "extremist" is usually associated with one particular religion is just a very convenient smokescreen. All religions are highly damaging to the human race. Money is the root of all evil with religion in 2nd place.

And of course, they probably exist. You only have to look at gazza. The place. Of course as you imply you don't need to be a terrorist to be extreme.

] You only have to look at gazza. The place. Yes I think he lives in Wellingborough - the thing I mostly remember from boating through Wellingborough was cars in a lake. Seemed quite an unusual way to store vehicles.

The problem is that as far as I can see the three major religions in that area all worship the same god but with different prophets of differing importance and who were active at different times. Then the same three religions have fought over the same chunks of land time and time again. I despair and can't really see a way out of the mess.

Maybe once the humans'reliance on oil fades a bit it'll all calm down.
Oh that's a point - North Korea isn't sitting on large deposits of rare earth elements is it?
What a strange coincidence that would be.

I suspect the bigger problem there is that different sets of very rich people jump on one particular faith to use it for their own agenda. It would be interesting to see if any of these people pray about what they are doing. After all, isn't prayer one of the biggest things in any faith?

I have long thought that any "good" in religions was quickly subverted to help the rich and powerful. What a great story, "We know you are living in a horrible situation now but if you are good and toe the line you will have all you could desire when you are dead ------ as long as you don't make trouble or kick back.

I agree, but even for those without a faith, the difference between what is good and bad is distorted by people to gain control. Look at marketing vs the true spirit of Christmas for example. The problem in not just isolated to religion or faiths. I'm beginning to wonder if the biggest factor is ego. Ego is possibly the biggest hurdle to faith too. It's difficult to believe in something (someone) more important than one's self, especially when you think it's screwed your over (quite literally in some cases) . The question is, has the spirit of love and kindness screwed you over, or someone who misrepresented it?
