Going back to a previous post by bassplayer. What is the 'true spirit of christmas'? It seems a bit convenient that it is just a few days after the longest night. Maybe just long enough to notice that the days actually are getting a bit longer so the world is not going to be plunged into eternal darkness. Nothing religious going on there

I've worked with a few jews. Each one of them was friendly and sociable. The only negative I could aim at each of them was that if others didn't do what suited them they weren't particularly good at hiding their disappointment. Yes, you could say they were arrogant and self-centred. On the other hand they never (openly at least) used any words to suggest that they, as jews, were superior to others. This contrasts with (some) muslims, who are quite open about their self-perceived superiority.
So overall, I don't understand hatred towards them.

My picture was of Mort and Muriel Goldman, the Jews from Family Guy.Β Thanks for noticing they're ginger, but not Jewish - antisemitic or what !!!Lol...actually I have seen a few Family Guy episodes. I quite liked it but don't remember seeing those characters. I liked the Simpson's humour too. My OH can't stand either so we watch sci-fi and footy so long as I'm a good boy and don't point out the ginger players.

1. I have never studied the history or the peoples of the Middle East, as there are more interesting subjects. It's all a long way away, and they seem to have created for themselves a right old mess, just like the Eire/Northern Ireland nonsense. This is why the Police don't like to get involved in 'domestics', impossible to solve, and the parties involved actually don't want a solution but to carry on and on and on and on... forever. 2. What is a 'Jew'? Is it based on genes? Or religion? If genes, then if a Jew doesn't want to be of the Jewish religion, then he'd be a non-religious Jew? And why call the religion, Judaism, 'Jewish'? If purely religious, then anyone can become a 'Jew', right? Somehow, you do get the impression that it's a private club. 3. My mother always reckoned that Hitlers's attitude to 'the Jews' was that he had asked them to lend him money for a campaign (election campaign?) but they declined. You can understand his bent, after having risen to a position of power, to 'return the compliment'. 4. I have nothing against 'Jews' as I have only met a couple, and they were/are very pleasant people. I do ridicule the 'Orthodox Jews' with their straggly hair and silly black coats and hats, mainly because it looks like they haven't an original thought of their own and have to follow the others, led like sheep. 5. Don't just think it was Hitler. England's very own King Edward 1st persecuted the Jews in England in the 1200s. Trumped up charges. Probably, again, because he wanted their money. 6. I have heard that wherever Jews settle they bring wealth and culture. I haven't heard of any Jewish rape gangs and 'groomers' in England, such as in Huddersfield - have you? They seem to keep themselves to themselves and cause no trouble. Am I missing something here? I wouldn't be surprised if your sentiments also extend to most Musiims, Christian's, atheists etc either. Perhaps our only enemy are control freaks?

Back vaguely on topic, it is so crass that Trump wants to stir this particular hornet's nest. How many people will die as a direct result of this action? Lots. And for what benefit? Surely he will be assasinated soon!
One thing for sure, the US embassy staff will be pissed off. Jerusalem shuts down of a Friday night for the Sabbath, its really hard to find somewhere to eat on Saturday (you have to go to an Arab establishment). And for a drink? - forget it! Meanwhile Tel Aviv is party town! For those who haven't been there, they are amazingly chalk and cheese despite being only 80 miles or so apart.

The US is well overdue for another presidential assassination.
I'll go for March 2018.

Actually my OH came up with a good point this morning when we discussed what was going on. Maybe they are deliberately sitting back for a while and letting him dig his own hole. I'm still going for the 'they are in it all together' theory.
