My picture was of Mort and Muriel Goldman, the Jews from Family Guy. Thanks for noticing they're ginger, but not Jewish - antisemitic or what !!!Lol...actually I have seen a few Family Guy episodes. I quite liked it but don't remember seeing those characters. I liked the Simpson's humour too. My OH can't stand either so we watch sci-fi and footy so long as I'm a good boy and don't point out the ginger players. I hate Family Guy and Simpsons

Yea but I don’t. I’ll keep my animal entrails draped over the tree thanks. The worst thing about Christmas is how they keep trying to bring god into it. Or his son, the product of rape (well as far as we know, Mary didn’t consent). so yea, carry on with your celebration of divine rape - whilst you can, before the PC brigade cotton on to it.

If you are referring to a specific god, e.g. the Judeo-Christian god, then that is a proper noun and it should start with an uppercase letter, i.e. God. The fact that you may not believe that such an entity exists is irrelevant. It's safe to say that Sherlock Holmes never existed. Now, get a time machine, fuck off back 50 years and go to a proper school which teaches the rudiments of English grammar.

Make it lots, since I know how much you enjoy it! (just try not to make a mess or at least get the kitchen towel ready). you can spell your god how you like. My god is spelled god because he is an imaginary friend. It a bit like an iPhone which is spelled iPhone. Capital all in the wrong place. I suggest you complain to mr apple and stop taking you capitalist ideas out on me.

Although it comes across as the idea of an uneducated person, a trading entity can spell its own name without regard to the rules of grammar. As an atheist, I don't have a god, but I do have an education sufficient to advise me that if I did believe in the traditional god worshipped in the UK, then this god would be spelled "God". Oh, and also your sentence should have started with an uppercase letter, that is another fairly basic rule of English grammar. What kind of sink-estate comprehensive school taught you to open sentences with lowercase letters?

You are saying that since I don’t believe in god it’s ok to spell it god. Which is what I did . DUUUUUR! As to your last paragraph, one of the first things one learns at proper school is that when communicating with the poorly educated masses, it is good to acknowledge their inability to write proper by dropping in the odd punctuation or grammatical error! Obvs, sort of “down with the thickos”!

An act not confined to the Christian religion: The Norse god Thor, after having his way in the Viking tradition, revealed who he was , saying, "I'm Thor!" To which Marig replied, "Tho am I, and I'm only thixteen"

Isn't the English language wonderful? I'm constantly getting my use of grammar criticised. 'God?' or 'god?'..depends on whether he exists as an entity I guess. We have some lovely points of view discussed on here, with a few insults mixed in... I love the way these threads weave in and out of topic, like Pandora's box you never know what's in one until you open it.

'God?' or 'god?'..depends on whether he exists as an entity I guess. No, the rule is that gods in general should be spelled with a lowercase letter (e.g. "Greek gods"), a specific god should be spelled with an uppercase letter, i.e. God. Whether the language user believes that such a thing exists is irrelevant.

Deities are effectively brand names. Like Marlboro or Birdseye. Therefore capitalisation is appropriate.
Allah. God. Vishnu. Rizla. Etc etc

Whether the language user believes that such a thing exists is irrelevant. However, of course I concede that some rules help, such as passing on the right when another boat approaches on a canal. Except in Myanmar where they drive boats on the left. Mind you, they used to drive cars on the left (British) but when they booted the Brits out they changed to driving on the right on a matter of principle. They probably did the same with the boats (ie swapped sides just out of awkwardness). Imagine the folly of deliberately doing the wrong thing just out of bloodymindedness!

Why are we ruining Christmas by bringing God and Jesus into it? Not sure athiestmass sounds right unless you have a bad lisp.
