Apart from the "Tug of War", is there ever anything as crazy as this happening somewhere in the UK ? Peter.

It's a useful skill if you don't have a toilet onboard.

One day all those boats will be electric.

Maybe they should do proper knots instead of throwing hoopla rings.
We could maybe have a competition like this next to the next cwdf banter.

Its very naff just chucking a hula hoop over a wooden post. No skill at all. And the oversized diesel units in the boats mean that anyone could do it by overuse of the installed power. And the stern mounted stick steering system makes it easy as well. God Bless America. And yes some slightly more aggressive and challenging canal boat handling competitions are well overdue. Tug of war is so boring ! What about boats reverse along a stretch of canal and see who can get to the destination quickest, turn round then come back forwards to the starting point then achieve vertical takeoff in the shortest time possible with the lowest energy consumption. Or something else moderately challenging. This is Great Britain. Let's make Britain Great again !

I'm definitely up for the reversing challenge. It's a doddle. (spillchucker suggests diddle, does it know about my outboard powered NB)

Just noticed one of these yanks is selling his engines in the for sale and wanted section of this forum.
He doesn't say but I reckon he's going for a Tesla Marine Powerwall install .
How cool is that man

I hope the VTOL part goes well for you. You have a fairly small boat so should be okay. Hopefully. And the firebreathing is always a useful skill. and being young and virile.

VTOL, no problems, an 8inch dia tube down through the hull, sit ecofan in tube and fire up the fire. Job sorted. Never mind all the fuss, just give me the prize.
What a nice boy you are! It's a shame my paid jollies to London are over, I'd call by for a brew. I used to be on a national circus arts committee, Skylight Circus also performed in the millennium dome, so I used to get paid for jollies to the smoke. Best ones were trips to Amsterdam, Bielefeld and a long weekend in Avignon, Sur le pont. Eurostar and tgv all the way. Euro funded!

Ecofans don't do anything.
Awfully sorry if you find this disappointing.
Pyrotechnics might work though
