I think letting boats is dodgy, but buying and selling them. What's wrong with that? Buying and selling boats is OK but specifically aiming to buy boats elsewhere and sell them in London seems to me to be feeding a problem which is liable to lead to negative outcomes. Thats just my view on it. Other views are available . I'm not going to argue with you. I would have thought it's perfect for you with your knowledge of boats and everything. But hey ho.

There are plenty of loaded county councillors, BUPA 'doctors', 'chiropracters' (con artists), solicitors, judges, estate agents, police commissioners and footballers retiring who fancy getting a boat - yes, indeed, it's time to rip them off with the skills they don't have. Make them pay. This is true but they aren't living on slum boats in London. I think the Thames valley is a more appropriate place for that sort of thing . or south coast.

If you want to do up boats, there maybe a boater around here who could supply cheap ones. Though you will have to respray and rename them. I see what you did there. Poor old Rog. He's probably the most benign and inoffensive poster on the entire forum. In good faith and through the kindness that is in his heart, he freely offered help to some lost souls who were in difficulties, naturally unaware that they were not acting entirely in good faith, and his reward was to be castigated forever as some type of hybrid of Ronnie Biggs and Dick Dastardly. Life's a bitch, eh?

I've always been very suspicious of dogless because he "likes" too many posts in the forum.
His boat thieving activities have passed me by and I have no idea what its all about but I find him deeply suspect anyway.
I have arranged for some of my MI6 contacts to "have a look" at him and report back. If they find anything interesting I will post here about it.

Hi do all mine myself, but some can't. Will people may for the quality of your work, can you charge enough per hour? If you can get a reputation you can charge for it, your work certainly comes up to spec. Do a business plan.

I(ps - Jim's boat is also very cosy inside, I didn't look at every detail but it had an overall feeling of being how a narrowboat should be) What you mean narrow

About 2.1 metres wide innit.

Jim is actually a very nice chap. Nicer than me. He has an opposing view to 'Brexiters' but then I suppose one's view is a complicated matter of all kinds of things - childhood, education, where you live now, who your friends and relations are. I quite like Jim. But not his jokes, they are the pits. I think he is a bit of a 'rough diamond' who has done a lot of good for his neighbourhood.

Yes, it is a narrowboat. He's lucky in that his stretch of canal from Littleborough to Sowerby Bridge is one of the prettiest of the whole system. I can't believe people in Braunston think it's lovely there. Because it's more like a low-lying swamp.

This seems a goer from feeb back from you and other folk, well to et a fw jobs offered within a nihgt of mentioning says it worth trying even for a weekend slow start. Me and T are looking at going down Burnham-on- Crouch soon to look at one of the jobs and take up the offer on staying over on his boat. What i am having trouble with to start is finding a charge rate. Hourly/daily ? Put it this way i am on mn age/living wage of £7:65 i think. If i can make more than that i would be very happy. I dont mind long days of work, i have done some long hours in the past and i miss them as i get fed up quick. Long i mean as in 14hr days of real work not driving. At the minute i am liking the idea of buying and selling boats and making these dinghy`s i have a mould for and see how they go. All weekend work for now. I have lost hours during the week at work so i have a spare 4-5 hrs after that to do work on boats and Dinghy`s A business plan hey Rog, where the hell do i stat there then. I will look at a few web sites on that. sounds complicated as it did before a good few years back when i looked into it. One more thing Thanks for the vote of confidence on this. When folk come up with these ideas the norm is the opposite from what is being said. Wayne
