There is very little that cannot be consumed by humans. Just think along the lines of brawn, tripe and haggis to name but a few that have bits you would not think of eating. Even bulls cock is a dish on some menus. They do say you can eat every part of a pig except the squeak.

I think dog food has to be fit for human consumption - never looked into the matter too far though. The material of animal origin used by the pet food industry comprises those parts of animals which are either deemed surplus to human consumption or are not normally consumed by people in the UK, and derived from animals inspected and passed as fit for human consumption prior to slaughterBollocks not normally consumed by people in the UK...

We used to sell a lot of tripe to northerners, don't know how they could eat dog food.
