Thanks for suggestions of other places to try. First hurdle is to get it back in the same condition I sent it! I usually sell my old tech on eBay, or on a couple of occasions I've sold to Car phone Warehouse when I've been happy with their offer.

A piece of crap that's only worth 60 quid, but some are daft enough to pay 4-500 for. My girlfriend has got an iRon, is it something like that? Think del boy and filofax. .. 😂

I bought my last two mobile phones on ebay, both from eastern Europe because the original owners were too ashamed to be be seen with them any more. I think I've had the current Nokia museum piece for about eight years now. I like to think that if I was ever stopped on the street by muggers who said "Hand over your mobile phone" then I could just pull it out and say "There you go" and they'd say "Errr, no that's alright mate, you keep it".

A white patch on a screen displaying white is technically a fault because the screen is actually displaying red green and blue pixels. No white involved A little explanation here jakubmarian.com/the-illusion-of-rgb-screens/

We have RGB under-gunwhale lighting which of course can be made to look white.

There are codes that give you access to phones tablets and pc's that will then give you access to things like the colour spectrum, battery condition, and other faults. Some faults you as a user may not even notice. I think you knew of the issues Nick, and was probably naive enough to think you could blag it. Bummer, you lost. Stick it on eBay.

Bit of a hijack... Anyone know the value of a 15 year old Iridium Satellite phone/brick? Museum piece or scrap? Put the model number into eBay and filter for sold items/completed listings that should give a guide. I'm sure there are collectors even if it doesn't work. It won't be scrap.

I use my iPad a lot, bought it about 3 years ago, an Air 2 64Gb 4g. In November I dropped it, smashed the screen and had to get a new screen/lcd which cost me ~£160. Bad decision because a couple of months later the battery life started really diminishing. In the end I bought a new one and decided to sell the old one which, apart from the battery life, was in good condition. Duly sent of to Mazuma Mobile with the promise of £190 for it. They got it today but have found 3 faults with the (3 month old) screen. One of the faults is “white marks in display, mostly noticeable on a white background. New LCD required”. Apart from anything else this seems illogical as white marks aren’t going to show up on a white background! I can honestly say that I have never noticed any faults with the new screen. Anyway, they revised their £190 down to £60. So they can poke off with that and I’ve asked them to return the iPad. Let’s just hope they actually send it back, and in the same condition. I see that the likes of 02 and EE buy old phones and tablets, so perhaps they are more reputable. Anyway, my ranting aside, anyone else been stung by Mazuma, Envirofone etc? Can I ask why you didn't change the battery on the Air 2? Cheap and easy enough to do.

But it is quite expensive on an Air 2 as I think you have to remove the LCD again which is glued on? Air 2 seems to be made deliberately difficult to take apart! When I saw that I would get £190 for the old one, I thought I would bite the bullet and get the newer model with more memory and faster processor. I probably should just have got a new one when I smashed the screen on the old one, it would have been cheaper in the long run!

No I didn't know of any issues, as I said the screen was only about 4 months old and seemed perfect to me. Battery condition was definitely an issue but not one they consider and not one cited in the price drop.
