Thanks Foxy & mm. It's a 9505 so might get about £100 for it. Phone on charge atm. Thats good..I must start sorting out my ones to sell.. I have a Samsung pink sliding phone that has stored awful messages from 'the woman' detailing what they got up to...bit x rated ...I wonder if its worth more cos of the seedy nature of content? Have you checked the videos on it?

I think the fact its pink could work in its favour but possibly the fact it is not a satellite phone could considerably reduce its potential final value.

I suppose I should update this. When the device was returned, the screen was coming away from the back in one place, which explained the image issues. The screen is just held on with a heat glue and I suppose it’s possible that I didn’t notice it had lifted as it normally lives in a case. I do have a habit of putting it edge down on the radiator in the bathroom at home. So perhaps it was like that when I despatched it, or at least showing the signs. When I have time I’ll try to glue the screen back and send it somewhere else!

But I have had iPads for the past 7 years or so, I haven’t changed my behaviour. But I did have the screen on that iPad replaced by a high street shop. Maybe the glue they use has a lower melting point? Is the differing melting point of glues that are not actually visible, part of common sense?

Not only that but even for thickos with no common sense I can virtually guarantee that the owner's guide will specify the temperature range in which the item should be kept, and "on top of a radiator" will not fall within this range.

I do have a habit of putting it edge down on the radiator in the bathroom at home. Incredible. I try to look after my phone as best I can, nowhere too cold or too hot. I do have it behind the windscreen of my bus (it sits in a baby's sock for protection) and so it is exposed to vibration, so I will say I am impressed how such delicate devices do weather that kind of jarring.

Understanding the difference between a mobile phone and an iPad is also part of common sense! How hot was the radiator? You have no idea. I put the iPad on its edge on the radiator in its case (which prevents actual contact between the radiator and the iPad)whilst I get up from having a dump and whilst wiping out the Klingons and washing my posterior with sweet perfume. I then pick it up and go elsewhere, during which time it hasn’t become hot or even warm. It is only when I forget to pick it up and find it there several hours later that a problem arises. So the problem is forgetfulness, not a lack of common sense. And it hasn’t been a problem in the past (past 4 years since I did up the bathroom), the problem has arisen due to a combination of forgetfulness and sub-standard glue.

Common sense would dictate that you stick up a note in front of the toilet saying "Remember to pick up the phone!"

And you really feel that you can't even go for a dump without taking your mobile phone with you? I'm sure that if you miss a call from Julian Clary or Paul O'Grady then they'll call back later.

Common sense would dictate that you stick up a note in front of the toilet saying "Remember to pick up the phone!" But I would need another note saying “remember to stick up a note saying “Remember to pick up the phone” and then another note saying “remember, an iPad isn’t a phone”. Anyway, we don’t have a toilet in our house, we have a lavatory or loo.
