And you really feel that you can't even go for a dump without taking your mobile phone with you? I'm sure that if you miss a call from Julian Clary or Paul O'Grady then they'll call back later. If you had gone to a proper school you would likely understand the difference between an iPad and a mobile phone. Let me give you a clue: you can’t make mobile phone calls with an iPad! Loo, toilet, bog, shitter, whichever you wish to call it, about the best place to leave an iPad.

There is no phone app, no ability to dial etc. Sim is data only. Of course you can use something like Skype over 3G or Wi-fi, but that isn’t really making a mobile phone call, that is VOIP.

Tried to prise the screen off to add some apps.

I did go to a proper school but I left in 1976 and those sort of things weren't covered on the curriculum. There is therefore a bit of a void in my education when it comes to technology. What about a fleshlight, can you make phone calls on one of them?

Common sense would dictate that you stick up a note in front of the toilet saying "Remember to pick up the phone!" My Mum did a similar thing after the Mk1 Cortina caught fire when she gave us a lift to skool - it said take blanket off engine before setting off (or sumthink similar).

We are a Samsung family you see and our Samsung tablet is basically a big phone and does the same things as my phone.

Not quite sure why not, it does seem a bit odd because it has all the right bits of hardware in it. Just a policy decision by Apple I presume.

We don't use it for calls buts it's handy the nipper can have what's app on it. So we can chat to him when he's at Nannys.

It's apples policy, if you could buy one of the smaller sized iPads and use it as a phone, it would effect the sales of their bigger screened iphones. As it is because they locked the facility up, you have to buy both. Whilst I like apple products, I think the way the company treats its customers stinks.

It does make sense though from a business perspective. But I wouldent even use a mini iPad as a phone. Massive.
our old iPad had a phone number but I suppose that was just the sim card.

Yes an iPad has a phone number (if it has 3/4g) as it gets its data over the phone network when not on WiFi and thus needs a SIM, but there is no way to make or receive a normal phone call.
