Title Probably not in the best possible taste but.... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44534102And to think some are accused of being insensitive on here, Brian Cooke is head and shoulders above in that metric. A tweet by former Transport for London (TfL) board member Brian Cooke described the dead men as "common scum who cost the railway millions and keep fares high". His account has since become private but was captured and shared by graffiti magazine Frontline. One Instagram user described the comments as "insensitive and ignorant", while another said he had gone "too far". A Twitter user wrote: "Think before you vocalise such brutal opinions." Mr Cooke was a TfL board member between 2012 and 2016. He was removed as chairman of London TravelWatch after breaching the terms of his appointment by declaring his support for Boris Johnson days before the 2008 mayoral election

They were just young men ..how sad In all seriousness, yes I agree. Of course they shouldn't have been there but let one of us who has not done something silly and reckless in our youth cast the first stone. I'm sure their families and friends are devastated.

They are not Graffiti Artists, They are scroates causing criminal damage to other peoples property. Sad for the families but no tears for them shed by me.
cunts with cans or as a mate of mine used to tell people "if you behave like a cunt, your gonna end up looking like one on the slab in the mortuary".

I don't approve of vandalism and some graffiti is dreadful but some is quite artistic and brightens up shabby buildings and walkways... Ok so they shouldn't have been there but IMO doesn't mean that their death is deserved..if that is what people are inferring. I know people who have done some awfully stupid/dangerous things and their luck held... Families left to grieve i feel for...

I did some reading up on train graffiti, in the graffiti world spraying incomprehensible squiggles on rolling stock or lineside is seen as the highest achievement a tagger can make.
Takes alsorts I guess.

I hate any form of graffiti, if they want to paint pretty pictures then get a big canvas and paint all over that. It maybe considered art by some but in reality its just selfish criminal behaviour damaging other peoples property and when things go wrong there's no concern or thought for those who have to clean up the body parts afterwards nor the possible trauma to any train driver.
Its not just drab buildings either, its trains, goods stock, cars, vans, narrowboats, motorway signs, trees, in fact I have seen just about anything tagged over the years.
Heres an idea, anyone caught spraying graffiti should be locked in public stocks for a day and people can come and spray them with paint

I detest the "taggers" and the eyesore they make of some areas and I abhor the scrawls you see on rolling stock. However not all graffiti is like that. Just upstream from here there is a long blank wall, facing the river that has several excellent bits of very clever artwork along it. .... That is also graffiti but it is obviously by someone who is an artist and it certainly does not detract from anything but adds quite a lot. That actual graffiti artist was spotted by the owner of this drydock who got him to come and do a mural on the front wall of the dock. Having seen the other ones up stream I wouldn't say it's his best work but it's bright and colourful and stops the place looking like a fading shadow of previous times. The guy deserves the title "artist" SAM_1427 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_1426 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_1425 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_1424 by mudlarker2, on Flickr this reply is a bit late as I was way laid when I went out to take the photos

Ignoring the stupid stuff that gets daubed, I actually like the graffiti art.
Some of the art work on ugly derelict buildings is stunning.
On the way into Leeds we were watching two men with rollers, trays and spray cans in the process of decorating a canalside wall. They were very open and public so we assumed it was a commissioned work, as local authorities and landowners often do.
We've often discussed the issue of 'graffiti art' and more or less come up with our classification as, no matter the quality of the work, if it's placed somewhere the landowner isn't happy with, it must be vandalism.
However banksy and many other graffiti artists have placed work without permission, and the landowners have subsequently sold the work at huge profit.
I suppose it comes down to beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
Sad waste of young lives. Some poor souls don't get the benefit of hindsight.

How many here would enjoy finding their boat 'tagged' in a sloppy, faux-artistic 'style' ? Some of the boats at Hampton court maybe?
