Sad to see. Mind you we've only ever been once whilst out walking. Willoughby's a lovely little village but it needs residents support to keep a pub in business. It's up for lease. Been a pub since the early 1500s . Rog I suspect many more pubs will be closing over the next year or so. They have become so expensive of late. Been in 3 pubs this past few days. Cape at Warwick, went in for a steak and they only had one choice, £29. Two boats, steak was 15 quid, pretty decent 👍. Boat inn yesterday at Birdingbury, £19.95 for fish&chips. I don’t mind paying for quality, but most pub food is basic but they are charging restaurant prices. We have taken to visiting butchers and deli’s more often and buying food produce to cook for ourselves. Some pubs manage decent food at sensible prices, so I can only assume the others are ripping customers off. That’s my moan for today. Lovely day isn’t it, loads of boats and smiley faces.

The licensed trade seems to be under pressure from every direction. High business rates, high property prices making conversion to housing and other uses more attractive, people's homes being far better furnished and equipped than 50 or even 30 years ago, social media replacing socialising, increasing numbers of people who do not drink on religious or health grounds, the availability of cheap shop-bought alcohol, the list is endless.

Here's my "Photo of the Day", a British Rail Class 395 "Javelin", built by Hitachi and operated by Southeastern Trains, running on the HS1 line and seen here at Ebbsfleet International Station. HS1 made an enormous difference to those of us who live in Kent. Before it came along, the fastest train from Ramsgate to London took 1 hour 50 minutes, most took 2 hours 20 minutes, and went into Charing Cross. which meant a transfer by tube if you wanted to continue northwards. The HS1 goes to St Pancras which is next door to Kings Cross and a 10 minute walk from Euston and the journey time is 1 hour 10 minutes. It cut around two hours from any rail journey travelling via London.

High taxes, ever rising mandated minimum wage, ever increasing legislation and regulation. It's difficult to imagine how economies might grow under such conditions, but we'll have to wait and see.

It is all fucked.
Nice day on the Podium today.
Checked out the free wine festival at Henley. I got as far as Reading for beer and petrol and came back. It turns out one of the neighbouring estates has 'rock the manor' where shit bands rip off quality music.
Currently doing 'last christmas' and fortunately it was mostly the original version .
Big George Michael fan me.
Young guns etc.
Now they are doing Queen..
Is there a message here?
Should I be a fudgey?

I was hoping the answer was something to do with sticking something made of rubber up somebody's arse. What a disappointment.

Lovely sunny morning but there's definitely that late summer, autumnal nip first thing. Heading towards Mr Stabby 's place ... bet there's loads of coal laying about. Just need to time things for when he's at work 😉 Rog

A little early for Roger to be exhibiting at the Brinklow show…though he has been known to go to early previously I’ve heard.
