π°π° September
Still, but cloudy and dry, and the sun is trying to poke through the clouds as I write.
Not sure if we'll move or not today.
Have to do some shopping for sure.

Yes ... weather warnings for thunder across the Midlands.
I must confess to enjoying a good storm especially when it skirts by and it remains dry in your location.
Must say it seems improbable at the moment, but we shall see.

Next week is time to get stuck in with the Taskmaster. Need to lift the starn end and get under there to bolt on a couple of aluminium plates to seal and reinforce the damaged hull sections.
In my mind I have decided I would like to mount a vertical tube reinforced so that I can fix one of the electric pod motors in such a way that it can be used as a 360 degree drive unit.
That would be greatly handy.
Only in my head thus far. Converting to reality will be a fun test of abilities.
I realised why the cooling water was not coming out of the outboard. The telltale pipe was detached and pumping into the outboard casing drain area which was blocked with pine cones. So next time I run it I will make sure the telltale is in the right place. I think it will probably work.
So if it can end up having the Honda 9.9 and a couple of feet in front of that a 360 degree electric pod drive it would be wicked.
There is room for 3 or 4 40Ah LTO batteries under the rear seat separated from the fuel tank by a solid bulkhead.
Might work quite nicely.

Finally made it to the ruined summer house of Gopsall Hall near Congerstone ... and the Horse and Jockey for a beer π The church was very interesting for local history too. Rog

Lots of information boards in the church with fascinating local history of Gopsall Hall, the staff and visitors.
It's fascinating that such a vibrant lively place has simply gone ... Ozimandious again I suppose..

I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desart.[d] Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" No thing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.

The promised thunderstorm never arrived. Looks like being a bit cooler and wetter in the week ahead. Meteorologically it became Autumn today.

Weather a bit of a bastard today. Had a long walk this morning, all was well. The afternoon was forecast dry with only a small chance of a shower. Plan was to hit the estuary on the kayak for a few bass. Got half way down to the yacht club and it started, really pissing down. Had to abandon. Frustrating.

We've been jolly fortunate.
Apart from a very brief, very heavy downpour at around 10am it's been dry, warm, often sunny and very pleasant.
We had a good walk and finally visited the Horse & Jockey at Congerstone.
Hope the weather and sea are kinder tomorrow for you ππ»

Southerly winds at the gliding club means we are downwind of the mountains and it can be extremely turbulent at low altitude, but also great wave lift. I braved the turbulence in our training 2-seater with a student, and we released from tow at 2000β, hit very strong lift at around 1000β/minute and shortly after weβre at 10,000 feet. The power of the atmosphere never fails to amaze me! I should have taken some photos of the fat, juicy lenticular clouds but didnβt think of it

Water pump housing cooked on the Honda 9.9. This happened before I got it as I have not run it for long enough to melt that. Ordered a replacement from a donor engine and will get new impeller. Two oil changes to get the water out of the sump. It runs like clockwork on tickover so it looks like the only thing needed is to sort the water then it should be working normally as long as the main jet in the carb is okay. Better result than expected as it was really grubby but these outboards are well known for being very durable and well made.
