I am struggling to see the problem. I assume the IWA have a seat on the council. Why not the NBTA? Is it something shameful to be a member?

Of course this could be an opportunity to influence negative attitudes if there is an actual meeting at any point. Then again, you don't necessarily have to be a proclaimed member of NBTA to achieve that. It could even work in your favour if you weren't perceived as such. On the other hand, I know you strongly identify with them. Tough call.

It doesnt matter to me what an organisation is called if its doing go work for people then i can suppport it.

I think if people understood the amount of work NBTA do with elderly and disadvantaged boaters, then they wouldn take the piss. There is no other organisation doing it, the reason crt have a welfare officer or even consider welfare issues is because of NBTA. That's fair enough kris. However, no-one is immune from piss taking, keeps them on their toes, helps prevent such orgs from becoming a personal fiefdom. Shock horror, mail exclusive... I even take the piss out of Jeremy, grandson went to see him, I asked if he had laid hands on anyone, made the halt walk and the blind see. Probably one of the reasons I'm here, my humour can, at best, wind up some pretend socialist or assorted right wing twat, no Denial to ban me. Altogether now 1 2 3 4 Oh Jeremy.....

Apart from few grammatical issues I think it reads well. I cannot comment on the NBTA as I have no knowledge of their role. I hope you succeed as you come across as genuine.... good luck.

Travellers turning up strikes fear into everyone, as they'll know that when they leave they'll be a pile of rubbish to be cleaned up - and guess who's paying for that through their council rates.

Hi Kris I think you are up to the job, like others I feel that being in the NBTA will lose you votes, however putting that you are a member of the Thunderboat team will gain you votes. I will vote for you because you are the only person I know brave enough to stand!!! All joking aside good on you for wanting to make a difference

I nominate Tony to be El Presidente. Oh no wait, he doesn't have a licence. Damn. Whilst you are correct in saying that I don't have a C&RT Licence, . . strictly speaking, neither does Kris, or anyone else who has been issued with one of their phony 'Rivers only Licences', which are quite simply a document purporting to 'licence' the use of a common law public right and therefore meaningless, worthless, and legally void, from the moment they are created !

I like lollygagger 's edits but I think it's important that any statement should come from you ... 'speak the truth and fear no man' as my old Dad used to say. The boat licence holders I know will certainly be voting for you Rog

The boat licence holders I know will certainly be voting for you Rog I get that, but some of it was a bit clunky to read and Kris did say it was his first draft - I tried not to interfere with it too much but after years of editing survey reports I can't stop myself honing a bit.
