OK, challenge ahead: my electrics leave a lot to the imagination, I now have three x 135ah new agm domestic batteries at the stern, two older agms at bow on a separate line, these are used to charge electronics. The existing solar works in bright sunlight, but I have to use engine to charge them if fridge is ON and it is cloudy. I now have to consider swapping existing solar set up for my new one, a two panel x 275W panels with 40amp controller. I intend to replace existing panels, wiring and controller, I am not sure where to start!

You will need an isolating switch to go between panel positive and the mppt controller, I used one of those battery key ones. If your panels are connected to the mppt without mppt being connected to the battery you get magic smoke and a large hole in your wallet. Controller pos can go to the battery isolation switch. I bought a proper crimping tool for the terminal ends, brilliant, wish I'd got one years ago, makes the job easy. Draw what you think is your proposed setup and post a pic of it.

where to start?
read up on websites like Bimble and (dare I say it) the other channel.
when you have formulated a plan come back and ask for critique by the members here.

I have a lot of solar for both domestic and the electric drive, I am with Jim keep existing solar and add to it on the other bank, in effect two systems like I have, I can link all mine together but thats because I have matched panels and the voltage is the same on both systems.

Suggesting there is just one "communal braincell" on this forum might not have been particularly wise, but you might get lucky yet, keep trying. I suspect it might be easier and quicker to pay a professional.

With flat solar it's always worth mentioning the square metre surface area available.

Really ... this should be fun ... I remember the keyboard Rog Yep, After two factory resets, one justcompletedat04.00, there is still no keyboard driver. I got rid of a virus that came with the tablet, but I hope my friend who gave me the tablet will get a refund. I suspect LINX are going bust.

The electrician who is not available, was tasked with doing just that, however it meant drilling holes in roof and buying brackets, and he charges megabucks per day, it was going to be two days to do this, so all in all, £700 min. The other problem is, they don't fit on the roof with all the other stuff including two bikes, trolley, etc etc. I must keep control of centre lines, so it makes sense to have panels aft. So I decided, as in I made an executive decision, that the existing panels and brackets would be used to mount the two large panels, and be fastened down with dyneema in addition to nuts, bolts, screws.
I have the cables with crimps which came with Bimble kit, if the cables are too short I will order more, rather than Diy, this is a one off due to the c...19 There is an existing solar set up, I can 't see much, there is a 15amp fuse which presumably could be replaced with a 25 amp fuse, or 30 or ? The existing cables are undersized, no doubt about that, and I suspect the wiring from panels to fuse is not waterproof, but I do have the proper fittings and cabling and 40 amp mppt solar controller. Yes, the panels MUST not be connected to controller unless controller is connected to the batteries.
So, there are two domestic banks, and one starter bank, three isolators. I need to photo these, I have a smartphone, and did manage to send a photo to someone once, but only once.

Wouldn't your best plan be to leave the existing solar panels in situ and to increase the total generating capacity by installing the new ones on any sufficiently large vertical interior surface that you normally stand or sit facing away from ?

It seemed a good idea to have two systems but I know I can't fit it myself, electrician won't come at this time, he will have a huge backlog when things get going, I don't expect to see him'till August. The wiring at the front was being sorted, but is not complete, I just could not do it, that is why I got an electrician to sort it, removing two Chinese inverters, just a new Victron to charge phone etc.
