So can we boat? Anyone know? I can go fishing and do other water sports. Motorbikes will be coming out to play this week as well. I thought fishing had been taken out due to the social distancing problems. I worry when someone in your profession replies to me with the words βtaken outβ

You can risk your life and go to work, or be miserable. It's a binary choice. Happiness is still banned. In all seriousness, I hope they have got the balance right. I wouldn't want Boris's job. I think 'they' will be closely watching the public reaction before choosing what detail to use tomorrow.

It was mentioned we may now take unlimited exercise, boating is unlimited exercise. ...unless there is no water and/or locks are locked!
I reckon CRT will allow people to move once more and suggesting we still keep that social distance at locks et cetera. Otherwise there will be some sort of mutiny and a considerable amount of folk demanding more than just a months extension on the licence fee.

So glad to see that everyone has completely understood the very clear message that Boris went to so much effort to inform us of.

I don't really understand why the official announcements have not included a "Strictly no enjoying yourself" warning. That's what this all seems to be about. I doubt that there will be a family owned pub, restaurant or any other family-owned business left trading after the dust has settled.

All those towns who vehemently opposed Tim's spoons pubs will suddenly be all luvvy duvvy with him. Oh yes please do open one of your pubs here with those lovely carpets. Put it near the station. Chesterfield sofas ok are they? And all the other big businesses will cherry pick and vulturise everything. What a wonderful opportunity.

Will be interesting to see what Marinas say.We moored locally(10 mins by car) at Titford on the BCN 'for 12 years until we retired. Two and a bit years at Norbury until two of their workforce seriously peed us off(one tried to bully meππ).Now been at Overwater since Dec18.Not supposed to be liveaboards there...but some folk complained that they didn't want leisure moorers putting liveaboards at risk !Mmm,they really need to think carefully about what they put on Farcebook. We pay the same as them & do not want them trying to tell us leisure boaters what to do.In theory,we're all leisure users-think the owners need to have a little chat.We all know that plenty of folk are liveaboards but they need to be more subtle !

Iβve had a conversation with liveaboard who have as good as said the same. I did point out that Iβm happy to leave them be, if they were happy to pay my fees. Iβve little interest in sitting on my boat in the marina, though Iβd like a day or two there to wash and maintain him. Iβm hoping we can go boating next week, we shall see. More importantly(for us) is that I can meet up with my offspring in a park and sit and chat. Only managed a few minutes chat with them face to face recently. That was at their Grandmas funeral. I really have a need to talk with them. Miss them lots. As ever with politics the devil will be in the detail. Logic suggests to me that Boris should have kept his trap shut until he released all the info, tomorrow? As ever I will fall asleep with my mind full of questions.

It will be interesting to see whether they insist that those without a home mooring must now move.

I'll be looking for a couple of Chesterfields when I move to Wales. Maybe I should wait till all the pubs go bust before buying any, bound to be some bargains to be had.

It seems to me the significant thing that happened last night was that government placed responsibility for the infection rate on the public taking sensible decisions. So if infections and deaths go up again it will be the public not the government that caused it.

I think what he tried to say without saying it (cause of course if he did he'd be hung drawn and quartered by the media/trial by peer pressure ) is:
"Look - we're no further forward... this waiting around for a vaccine/treatment is gonna take WAY longer than the economy can stand - SO, look people... we need more folk to catch it ... so it can work it's way through us all at a controlled speed without us all being ill at the same time. Please can a few more catch it, but not too many and with a bit of luck, in a few months, enough will have had it to keep limit the spread (assuming you can't get it again or pass it on again ) "
That is Actually what will HAVE to happen. The Subtext here is that the uk doesn't have enough police and army to control the population if they decide they DO want to picnic in parks and sunbathe .... LETS be honest, they ARE doing anyway so why make the police's life any more difficult... Society is fragile - it'll only take a few break outs of civil disobedience and 1 shot fired on a member of the public to trigger anarchy.
We remember the poll tax riots - which will seem a walk in the park in comparison.
It's just however it's phrased, 'Joe public' need someone to blame and moan at about it... everything ends up politicized - I'm not in the least bit religious but I do follow a christian idealism.... we need to stop blaming and complaining about every stage and just suck it up.. I'm paraphrasing here, but "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"... or something like that...
I'm pretty sure no one could do any better ... one thing IS for sure, everyone with kids/grand kids is going to owe them gratitude in paying for this mess for decades to come...
Stabby may appear a bit right wing in some of the language he uses but he DOES make valid points - KIDS are going to have to pay for "this" for the rest of their lives....

Substitute 'boat' in the sentence "drive to other destinations to exercise" I don't see it as clear cut as that - we will have to wait to see how others interpret the 'message' over the next few days to a week to see how clear cut things are.
