Hmm... only way to get rid of 'quote' is to delete. Happy now? Spoilsport. (and it was your post that prompted my though. So there.)

naughtyfox your post has nothing to do with my quote ... please remove my quote ... I do not wish to be associated with that, thanks. Rog Ffs. Utterly ridiculous.

Scared of reprisals. Still... who does want tyres placed round their arms and then to be doused in petrol? Winnie Mandela- style.

Thankyou.
Both you and @bedruthan appear to be under the impression I should care what you think on the issue ... sorry for giving that impression.
I did not like your post ... but had you not linked me to it I would not have mentioned it.
Thankyou again.

'Surge of Power' It's an odd choice of name from an organisation seeking to get more power in perpetuity, rather than just for the moment. There again I could be underestimating the mind that created and named it; perhaps he realises that 'black lives matter' is just the latest lefty fad which will fade away in favour of new ones, just like other lefty fads have in the past. If this is the case it's an inspired choice of name.

I liked the name, and the statue ... it tells a story ... were anyone to say "what's that about?" you would have to explain the history of Colston and the 18th century slave trade ... the reasons for the tearing down of his statue and who Jen Reid is and what she represents. But I understand others may not be convinced ... and ultimately the people of Bristol must decide what they choose. Rog PS Feel free to put your post back up naughtyfox ... but I suspect even you see the error of your ways

Statues put up in public areas should only be done by public authorities. I don't care if it was liked, approved of, paid for by anybody else, that's irrelevent
It does not have planning permission and should be destroyed .... period ..... and I don't care if it cost someone or some group a million.
Allow one and you are opening the floodgates for everygroup of vocal maniacs to start putting up all sorts of idiotic crap in squares/ parks etc.
It should be stamped on good and hard.
Sorry Rog, I'm dead against you on this. It's easy to say "oh it's only just" etc "it doesn't look too bad" etc etc ...... allow one and you have to allow all

You're not against me JohnV ... if you read my posts you'd see I agree and said it was right it was removed. I merely said I liked it and the story it told as a piece of art. At which point foxy put up a 'golly' and suggested that would be appropriate ... it was a poor attempt at humour (giving him the benefit of the doubt there ) but what I objected to was his linking it to me by quoting me ... he has kindly removed it as requested. I’ll bet good money the people of Bristol decide they want “the surge of power.”

I’ll bet good money the people of Bristol decide they want “the surge of power.” I dunno..there is so much apathy about some stuff..once the immediate reaction over n done.. I wouldn't vote one way or t'other...

I understand the council removing it until a consensus is reached on what should be put in the place ... however I liked it ... it captured the moment rather well ... 'Surge of Power' was a great title for it too, and it told a terrific story linking Bristol's history to today. Rog Bollocks, and lefty bollocks at that. Removing one and replacing one of yourself speaks volumes. I hope it gets smashed up. Whatever your politics and opinion of the replacement surely one has to ask how on earth did THAT magically happen overnight - yet no-one knew about or heard the crane, erection, fixing, etc....?

The council certainly moved fast to remove it and rightly so .

PS Feel free to put your post back up naughtyfox ... but I suspect even you see the error of your ways I thought it was funny... but then, sometimes there is merit in curbing my outlooks, keeping out of trouble, and letting the people of Britain see the error of their ways for themselves. Next you'll be inviting that Shemima Begum terrorist back. Oh, wait...
